What Cap de Creus is like
It’s the easternmost point of the Iberian peninsula, in the north of the Costa Brava. The nature park has strangely shaped rocks, coves you reach on foot or by boat and a lighthouse above the sea. The tramontana wind blows hard here.
Which town to choose
Cadaqués, with its white houses and Dalí’s house at Portlligat, is the most famous and most expensive town. El Port de la Selva, to the north, is quieter, with a fishing harbour. Roses, to the south, has a bay with long beaches and the most hotels.
When to go
From June to September for swimming, with crowds in August. Spring and autumn are good for walking in the park. Some hotels in Cadaqués close in winter.
Getting around
The road to Cadaqués is winding and busy in summer. There are buses from Figueres and Barcelona. Parking in Cadaqués is hard and expensive.
