Lovely little apartment in residential complex between town and coast

Liked: Great location between town and coast. Seafront restaurants 15-20 min walk away. Stunning coastline - very dramatic cliffs. Loved seeing the Tenerife ferry charging in and out of the harbour. (Bit of road noise in the apartment when the cars drive past, but no problem, don't think it runs through the night). Lots to do in the area: recommend walking up through Agaete to visit the ancient necropolis, informative signage (including English) and beautiful views up the valley; early-morning swimming in the sea pools with fish below you, watched by the crabs on the rocks 🦀👍🏻; coffee plantation/vineyard tours a short drive away; Galdar next town along also has interesting archeology, art museum, food hall and shops. The lovely pool in the middle of the complex was nice and quiet out of season, very peaceful, and big enough for a proper swim. Apartment clean and well maintained. Free car park next to residential complex. Javier is very helpful and came to meet us to let us in after our evening flight, and helped us find food even at that late hour (24hr McDonalds at Galdar). We communicated well using Google Translate - thanks Javier! 👍🏻 We loved our stay here.

Disliked: Only two very small points: - The L shaped sofa only comfortably seated 3 - but there is an additional desk chair - Sign requests that you need to bin toilet paper, not flush - we were happy to comply but some Brits may find this weird And not criticisms, just a couple of tips: - no sunbeds provided at pool: there are some folding chairs in the apartment, or else bring a beach towel and lie on the (very nice) artificial grass. Pool was unheated but perfectly manageable in October. (NB the pool, being a private residential one, is not manned of course: for safety best to swim in pairs/groups and please don't leave children unaccompanied) - Do NOT prise open any closed mussels in your paella. I did and paid the price, for 24 hrs - you have been warned! 😆

Liked: The apartment was perfect for us and our little 2 year old. There was a lot of useful equipment for kids and toys and games for both kids and adults. The kitchen had a lot of equipment and there was everything you'd need. The pool is spectacular, it feels like you're in a movie and it was usually empty. There is a large supermarket literally next door which is next to the bus stop back to Las Palmas. We would really recommend going to the natural pools (we saw an octopus there!) and we went on a stunning 6-hour hike up to Tamadaba. We would definitely come back, it felt like such a find!

Disliked: I can't think of anything, it was a really great stay!

Comfortable family-friendly apartment in a lovely non-touristy corner of Gran Canaria

Liked: Location was brilliant. Perfectly located right between Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves with a 10 min walk to each! Nieves has plenty of places to eat by the sea and there are more in Agaete too. Agaete has a local and genuine feel if you're not interested in the tourism metropolis in the south of the island. It's about a 10-15min walk to the wonderful volcanic rock sea pools nearby. We traveled with our 8 month old baby and it was an excellent place to stay as a new family. Plenty to do locally that's walkable (and pram accessible) as we were without a car. The apartment complex is lovely. The pool area is fantastic and wasn't ever busy. The complex is also gated and we felt safe there. But the local area also felt safe too. The other residents were very friendly. Sara was a great host on arrival, meeting us later than planned after a delayed flight. We discovered that we needed legs for the high chair when arriving in the evening and she was quick to drop them off the following morning.

Disliked: The only thing was that we had some issues with the washing machine not working at one point, which we think were due to a few power cuts one night caused by a storm one night. This couldn't be helped of course. Although when we messaged about the problem it took a few hours for a response, which we thought could have been a bit quicker. Fortunately, the washing machine got working again and we had no further issues! Contact in general was pretty good though. Particularly for arranging key collection and transfers to and from the airport.
