Good
Basic and clean, no frills
Liked: If you are on a tight budget, this place is fine
Clean and functional, hard to find and noisy in the night
Liked: Room was clean. Good location close to city centre and the beach. Functional room and bathroom and had towels etc
Disliked: Receptionist not often there so when other guests wanted to check in they didn’t have instructions so rang on the buzzer in the middle of the night waking us up. Very difficult to find property, no sign. Quite noisy overnight

Liked: The location is excellent. The communication through messages was great too. The bed was comfortable for my liking.
Disliked: I know how to use Google Maps, even then it was difficult to find the place. When I rang the door nothing happened. The only reason I could get in the building was because someone came out and left the door open for me. After that it was easy, as I got the codes to get into the relevant part and my room. Soundproof walls would've been nice as the other people staying there were quite loud, even after I asked them to keep it quieter. I understand that has nothing to do with the owners.

A fair place to stay with a good location, but not straight forward!
Liked: The location was good, and close to a main area for restaurants, tapas bars, cafes and some bars/pubs... Only about an 8-10 minute walk to the beach which is made through the same streets mentioned before.
Disliked: The Hostal Alegria Alicante is not an easy place to locate, even with help from the locals as many there have never heard of it... So top tip here, ask for google map directions at the Dubliner open air tapas bar halfway up the Ramblas road because the staff there helped us find the elusive accommodation! There is no name displayed outside the hostal and just a row of buttons with names on them, so again a top tip is the front access is basically a big glass window and door and there's a small shop next to it. The guys running it speak just a few words of English so google translate will be your best friend when trying to communicate anything with them. We asked for very little during our 4 night stay there, just some towels and kept it simple. The room was basic with no window and had an electric fan inside for keeping it fresh and cool at night, but it was clean and the shower/WC was fine and everything is on 1 floor too...
