Exceptional
A step back in time in a gorgeous lodge wonderfully renovated
Liked: It’s a short hop from the main road and we elected to stop the night on the long drive from the Costa del Sol to the U.K. Don’t be put off by Béjar which is a very ugly town which I thought initially was Candelario. Candelario is a really quirky, ancient but alluring little ‘town’ with a population of 800 of which the majority are over 70 years old. It’s a great place to break up the journey and step back in time. Advise eating prior to arriving as most bars and restaurants were closed in the evening. It’s actually a ski resort (but they won’t be holding the Olympics there 🤣😎 anytime soon)but the town is a must to visit and walk around taking in the mountain air. Dinner is served at the guest lodge (Posada)and is basic solid fare cooked by the owner who’s a lovely fella with a fascinating history. I strongly recommend giving it a go….
Disliked: ZERO
Great stay in an exceptional village
Liked: Friendly welcome and good staff
Disliked: Nothing
Rustic charm with modern facilities set among moutntains
Liked: Rustic atmosphere; sensitively and tastefully renovated, lovely v quiet location in the beautiful old village of Candelario, nestling in the mountains yet near the motorway. Excellent service, dinner and breakfast.
Disliked: Nothing: perfection itself.
Great place! We would stay here again
Liked: Clean in a very old historic building. Our host was great and gave a great discussion on the places and people of the town
Disliked: Nothing. It happened to be raining during our stay so it limited the number of outdoor options. The paella was for two, 30 euros, but small.
Liked: Beautiful old hotel in a small hillside historic town in Candelario. Lovely helpful staff and great food and drink. Balcony view and beer after cycling 50 miles and uphill was just what we needed.
Disliked: Nothing
Liked: Lovely village, great host, very attentive, bar & restaurant on site good food, evening & breakfast, room very nice.
Disliked: The bar area courtyard was lovely apart from the two parked motorbikes in it. Other than that, it was great.
