Good
Banging doors & jangling keys
Liked: Central location between the old town & Guggenheim, with a lovely walk down the river in both directions. Receptionist was very friendly & welcoming. The place was spotlessly clean but could do with a paint refresh. For instance, the bathroom radiator was only half painted 1 coat of newer paint at some stage in the distant past.
Disliked: The bed was more rock hard than firm which didnt provide a good nights sleep. While previous reviews had mentioned the doors being an issue, they didnt go far enough to explain the problem. Imagine being in an old prison with doors slamming & banging & keys jangling all through the night & day. This is not a hotel if you are looking to rest easy. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room either, but you really didnt want to spend any additional time in the room
Disliked: the hotel reflected the price, budget price = budget hotel
Liked: The host was extremely helpful. Despite not having a common language communication worked really well. The location was very convenient for us. The room was comfortable and clean. It was extremely useful for us that we could leave our luggage there already for a few hours before checking into our room.
Liked: The staff were very nice and made us feel welcome.
Disliked: The noise from a nearby bar went late into the evening on the street outside.
Liked: The receptionist was friendly and helpful allowing us to store our motorcycle gear in the hotel until we were ready to leave the city to catch our ferry. The underground parking area allowed us to park our bikes securely. The centre of Bilbao is only minutes walk away.
Disliked: Nothing.
If you don't like sleeping, this hotel is for you
Liked: Situated close to many restaurants, bars (see "what didn't you like"), and the river for lovely long walks Flat and walkable for the most part Comfortable beds
Disliked: We stayed in room 2 on the first floor; it's *directly* above a bar which closes at 2AM and has various drunk patrons voicing their opinions quite loudly until well after that. With the windows shut it's somewhat manageable to get some rest, but in warm months I'd absolutely avoid this room and probably the whole hotel.
