Good
Frustrating experience: hostile manager, bathroom queues, 100% unpleasant
Liked: This hostel is extremely poorly managed, with inadequate shared bathroom facilities and a rude, unhelpful manager. There was always a queue for the shared bathroom. On the morning I left, it was occupied for an hour, so I had to leave without brushing my teeth and could not even use the toilet. Check-in was equally frustrating. Despite completing the registration form twice, I still had not received clear check-in instructions. Whenever I asked for help through Messenger, the manager repeatedly told me to read previous messages instead of providing the information I needed. I spent 30 minutes standing outside the door, messaging back and forth, unable to check in. On the day of departure, I could not get back into my room at 10:53 a.m., even though my luggage was still inside and check-out was not until 11 a.m. When I asked for help, the manager simply replied, “In any event, you must leave the room at 11am,” without helping me open the door. Room is noisy with nothing provided. I have stayed at many properties with shared bathrooms, but this was by far my worst experience. I was concerned that the hostel might accuse me of damaging the room, so I took photos before checking out. After I left, the hostel, as I have expected, accused me of stealing a towel and posted a photo of a dirty towel as evidence of alleged damage. This seemed inconsistent: if I had taken the towel, how was it still there to be photographed? Fortunately, I had taken photos of the room before leaving to protect myself, and I sent them to Booking.com. Booking.com apologised for the poor experience.
Disliked: Extremely dissatisfied and this place was a tourist trap.
Liked: The room was cute
Disliked: Bit noisy
Liked: Friendly staff, ready to help. Comfortable modern renovated room. Easy to find accommodation. It’s not very close to the bus station, but it is possible to get on foot or by tram
Liked: I really liked the location; everything was clean and comfortable.
Disliked: The room was on the main road, so it was very noisy, and at night people were coming and going, slamming the doors without any regard for anyone who might be sleeping and this went on until 3 o’clock in the morning. I stayed there during the week; I don’t even want to imagine what it’s like at the weekends.
Not worth it
Liked: It was a lower than average price.
Disliked: Room was dirty. It was extremely noisy, I could barely sleep and it was very hot as well given that there wasnt even a fan in the room. Awful experience.
Ok for a 1-night stay but not recommended
Liked: Useful location 10 mins walk from the Bilbao Intermodal bus station.
Disliked: Very noisy due to all the heavy keypad-entry doors being slammed and beeping from the keypads (my room was beside the entry door to the section B rooms). Also a lot of noise and some cigarette smoke from the window which faced interior courtyard. Many other residents in this building - pension is on the 2nd floor only. No chair or mirror in room; bathrooms superficially clean but broken/cracked tiles, old stained grout, and rusty fittings.
