Disappointing, disorganized, vouchers for breakfast. Didn't bother

Liked: Clean and modern, nice shower. Good-sized fridge with a small freezer compartment. Walking distance to historic Bilbao.

Disliked: Sorry to put this place down, as we thought Bilbao itself was lovely and well worth a visit. We didn't expect high-rate accommodation as it was just university rooms, but it did not live up to even that... On arrival, we could see it looked like a dodgy-looking area. Lots of guys hanging around the streets, with police present at all times. I would think loan travellers would not feel safe walking around there. We were allocated a room that was not the one we booked and had to go back to reception to explain. We were then told there were problems with the water and electricity on the floor level with the family room we booked, so this small room was the only one available. No explanation before we went to the room, by which time we paid extra for parking inside...🤷 The room we booked was a large family room costing Euro 97. The small room rate was Euro 73. In the meantime, we paid E20 for parking. No refund was offered, only extra breakfast tickets for the cafe a few hundred meters away. At that time, the Moroccan cafe had no chef for hot food, only a few cold snacks that looked very old! The barman was apologetic and accommodating but was on his own and could not do hot food.

    Decent value for money

Liked: Rooms were big enough, with comfy beds and it had everything we needed... It was surprisingly quiet for that kind of student's accommodation.

Disliked: We didn't expect that the area in this part of town is that dodgy. Nothing really happended to us, but the neighbourhood is definitely not appealing and the people on the streets there made us feel a little unsafe, especially in the evening and night. The girl on reception kinda mislead us to find our room and we roamed around the building until we finally found it, but I guess that happens and it was not intentional of her.

Would probably choose somewhere else if going again

Liked: The staff were friendly, polite and very helpful.

Disliked: The immediate area is very rough. I made sure I got back early and didn’t feel particularly safe even during the day in the first 100m. It is on a very noisy main road, people were frequently shouting and having arguments. There is a scrap metal place opposite and people came with trolleys with what they had found during the day. Once passed this bit it is actually very central and most places are walkable. Disappointed there wasn’t a kettle in the room to make a hot drink. A small plastic cup of hot water can be obtained from the vending machine downstairs for 0.80€.
