  Apartment in a suburb of Bilbao near trains to the city centre

  Liked: Furnishings and bathroom very clean. Very clear instructions from the helpful host on how to get in and how to access the parking.

  Disliked: There was quite a lot of mould and damp on the ceiling and wall of the bedroom, which made the bedroom smell quite bad. This really needs to be addressed. The flat was advertised as having a parking space, but there was no mention of the 10 €/day extra charge for this in the description - it would be good to mention that. There aren’t a great deal of food options in the immediate vicinity, though there is a direct train connection via which you can reach the city centre.

  Water leak was never disclosed, host refused to return our govt IDs we accidentally left

  Disliked: NIGHTMARE - Host failed to disclose water leak, refused to return our Global Entry cards, refused to refund unused nights, & refused to return the unused parking days of 40 Euros. See attached water leak photos. Timeline: Aug 18: Checked in gave the host Belen 70 euros for parking during (10 euros/day). After about an hour of arrival I smelled a strong mold odor. I am allergic to mold and have asthma. Noticed water leak in the bedroom on wall shared with bathroom. Msged Belen the host, her exact words, "we have already addressed the leak a week ago, but the wall does, however, require a proper drying period before we can move ahead w painting. Please accept my apologies for not updating you sooner, than thank you for telling me." Aug 19: I was insistent that Belen send a plumber to check on the water leak. Belen arrived with the plumber. Belen accused me of making a big deal out of nothing. We started arguing in front of my 4 yo daughter and the whole situation got uncomfortable. The plumber never looked at the wall. He re-caulked the bathroom tub and left, he also left the bathroom messy and I had to clean up. Aug 20: Belen continues to be non-responsive. Aug 21: After 3 nights with my allergies & asthma getting worse, we vacate the property and check into the Melia hotel. Belen then writes me telling me I left all the lights on at the property, which we did not. I ask her if she found our Global Entry cards and she said she checked everywhere and they are not at the property. Then in the evening she sends me a photo that the cleaners found our documents and she would leave them at a hotel. - 23 Aug: I msged Belen asking her to return our Global Entry cards to our hotel, the Melia. I also asked her to return 40 Euros parking. However she is selective about the messages she responds to. She doens't respond to many of my messages. Then I called Booking.com telling them to call Belen, I told Booking.

  Liked: A really great flat. Spacious, spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. The kitchen has every amenity you might need. The owner kindly left us a welcome box of chocolates and supplied all the information we could need. The covered parking is excellent and very secure. Nice little bar opposite for coffee, snacks or drinks. The station, buses to the centre, bars, restaurants and supermarkets all within a short walk. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind being a little way out from the centre and need secure parking.

  Disliked: A little way out from the centre but very manageable on public transport and very cheap with the Barik card.

  Charming place to stay

  Liked: The area where the apartment is located has several grocery stores, local markets, hairdress close by, what is very convenient. The apartment is a bit far from the city center but there is public transportation at a short walking distance. I suggest that you buy the bus card at the Tabaco store (main street where the buses pass), load it up with credits and ride to the center of town.

  Disliked: nothing that I can think of

  Liked: this apartment is super clean, spacious and very comfortable, with secure parking below. the location with many supermarkets and fruit shops is ideal for self-catering. public transport is close by and easy to use. the hostess is very helpful and charming.
