Fabulous
Absolutey wonderful
Liked: Es Barranco is just so delightful and Manuela and her family could not be lovelier and more helpful. Very genuine and warm people. Manuela had also decorated the property with personal artwork which is toally charming - all the rooms bearing the name of a particular flower and being decorated accordingly. (Mine was "los girasoles" - Sunflowers). The house is about 3 km from the coast. There are buses that run quite regularly, although in fact I chose to walk. If choosing this option just be aware the first 3/4 of the walk is along quite a busy road - though with space enough to walk safely at the side - but then, after the turning to Cala Mitjana you can continue off road on a lovely cool and shady walk through pine forest down to either Cala Mitjana (left) or Cala Galdana (straight on). Manuela is super generous and provides free eggs from the chickens on the farm for your breakfast. I loved that it was a real farm, and that the animals were around to be seen. It was absolutley glorious, coming from the hubbub inner city London to this tranquil setting.
Disliked: It feels mean to name any dislikes as I so loved Manuela! - but I know it can be hepful for other guests. So, just to point out, my room had a window only on to a little corridor, not to the outside, which just meant it was hard to cool the room down at night, even when the temperature dropped outside. There is a fan though so it wasn't really a problem. Also I would just put in a request for a new frying pan - current ones getting a little worse for wear; )

Liked: Very good location, grapes in front of the house, each room has its own designated cupboard in the kitchen labeled with the room's name
Disliked: We arrived late, around 10:30 PM, and were devastated by the assigned room. Although we knew it was an old building, the standard was much lower than expected, especially compared to the photos. The walls were crumbling, the room smelled of dampness, and the bedding and blankets were soaked in the odor. The window faced the corridor, so there was no fresh air. I didn’t sleep at all. The room was in desperate need of renovation, including furniture and chairs. In the morning, we requested a room change. Our belongings were left behind and later moved to a much better room, which became available when other guests left. The new room was much better, although the pillows in both rooms we stayed in were saturated with sweat—sometimes changing the bedding isn’t enough; the pillows also need proper cleaning. If we hadn’t been moved, we would have sought alternative accommodation or returned home early. Another issue was the water, which was extremely chlorinated. After seven minutes in the shower, my hands were wrinkled like after an hour in a public pool, and the chlorine smell lingered even after washing dishes. I’m not a city person—I come from a small village and was excited about staying on a farm—but I would not return even for a single day.

Liked: Manuela is lovely and an extremely warm and welcoming hostess of this fantastic, clean, homely finca with a cosy kitchen and basics such as tea and coffee. Moreover, every room is a delight because Manuela, the artist, has decorated and painted each room in a very colourful, unique way. It's a very happy home where you can relax in the kitchen or on the patio outside. Es Barranco is a small farm/finca with cows, pigs, chickens and mischievous cats. It is also only a short bus ride from Cala Galdana. We hope to return someday and recommend Es Barranco to all!
