The El Rosal isn't simply a place to stay, it's a destination you must experience
Liked: I could not have had a better stay a the El Rosal. The hotel operates with the feel and care of a bed and breakfast but with incredible facilities and remarkable staff (especially, Rosario, one of the main attendants). They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and that all my needs were met. Truly just some of the friendliest and most hospitable people in the world. The hotel itself is a work of art with astounding views and great proximity to the town of Cudillero. If you're travelling through the North of Spain, you simply must stop here!
This is rated a 3 star hotel but a 5+Star Experience and great value for money
Liked: Beautiful traditional building which as been renovated to the highest standard surrounded by beautiful grounds. From the moment we arrived the staff were incredible. Ellie greeted us and gave great tips on local sights to visit, restaurants etc. before showing us to our beautiful room. If you are visiting, treat yourself to the Suite. So roomy, large king-size bed was very comfortable. Roomy seating area with private balcony overlooking the gardens. Bathroom with "His and Hers" washbasin and rainfall shower with excellent pressure. I also have to thank Rosario and Ellie for looking after us from drinks and tapas in the evening on the lovely terrace to a fantastic breakfast cooked to order by Alfredo. We don't normally avail of hotel breakfasts but this was first class. Freshly squeezed orange juice, home made yogurt, pancakes, bacon and eggs and an abundance of homemade cakes and breads. It really is a treat and not to be missed. There was a festival on in Cudillero when we visited and difficult to get a taxi. However, Rosario arranged for her colleague to drop us to the restaurant we had booked for the night in her own car - I'm sorry we cannot remember her name but from start to finish all of the staff went over and above with their friendliness and making sure you had a wonderful experience. 10 out of 10
Disliked: Hotel was a couple of kilometres from the local town of Cudillero and a steep walk back so car or taxi is needed. However, we knew this in advance and the peaceful setting of the hotel out of town is well worth the trade-off. On the plus side, it is also quite close to the main motorway for making day trips and exploring further up the coast or inland to the mountains.
