Liked: Welcoming staff Pleasant, spacious building Beds with curtains
Disliked: My bed very likely was not changed after previous guests. Did not get a duvet cover at all. Only found an old one deep under my bed. It is not hygienic if you do not change bed sheets after every guest.
Liked: When I arrived, I almost immediately decided to extend my stay, which pretty much says it all. The people are friendly, the house and location are beautiful, all of the staff/volunteers take good care of the place and you see them work hard every day to do so. There are areas you can relax/work by yourself, but the house is very social and if you sit somewhere communal, you'll make friends if you want to. It's right next to a beautiful beach / bit of coast, at the top of a hill that has a great view. The walk into El Medano is manageable, yet the house is far enough from the centre that it feels separate, and the area is very quiet for this. The facilities are good and cover everything you need, the bathrooms are cleaned properly daily, and are private, not communal. The beds are comfortable, and I found the temperature at night fine, which can sometimes be an issue in stuffy dormitories, though I'm sure the El Medano wind contributes to keeping it cool! Obviously I can't speak for what the clientele is like outside of my visit, though compared to other hostels I've stayed at in the canaries, Aloe Vera seems to attract a slightly older more travel-ish customer, compared to the 18-21yr olds that can sometimes dominate hostel stays, which as someone in their 30s mainly looking to chill and work remotely was great for me, though the house also has a WhatsApp group where nights out and activities are arranged. The vibe manages to straddle laid-back and bustling, and it was generally just a pretty easy and pleasant place to be.

Liked: A nice and cosy place to stay in El Médano. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and the location was convenient for exploring the area. The swimming pool and outdoor space were a lovely bonus. Overall, a pleasant stay and good value for money.
Disliked: Nothing major to complain about. As it is a shared house, you can sometimes hear other guests, but that is to be expected.
