  Competa is such a beautiful town and the hotel bungalow so well placed but lacking atmosphere/charm

  Liked: The hotel is beautifully located with great views of the area and the valley. Parking could be a problem and drivers need to be very wary of the steep narrow streets and restrictions. The main building is huge with pool and plenty of room to relax. The building entrance is elegant; the cafeteria and dining areas are spacious too. There are a number of bungalows outside the main hotel with not particularly easy access to the main building. There are parking spaces on this lower level. Entry is via a steep lane. Some of the bungalows are divided into 2 smaller units with 2 small rooms and bathroom. Ours was not large but adequate acting as a base to explore. There were a few things left out for us such as water and a business card but no local information or anything about the hotel / bungalow facilities.

  Disliked: It could be hard to find the location but parking is adjacent. Guests need to be fit and agile with or without transport. The reception is not always manned but someone is available at normal times. Getting down to the allocated bungalow, built in wood with a small balcony, is tricky without a car and not that easy with one, There are steep metal steps from the hotel to the lower level. The wooden buildings look a little dated and ours needed some maintenance which we pointed out to reception. On arrival the interphone and TV were not connected and there were no instructions on how to use them. Reception staff were asked to remedy this. It required three climbs to reception to sort this out and it would have been nice to be made a little more welcome on arrival especially as there were few if any other guests. The bungalow looked rather shabby especially outside which seemed a little "unloved". The best part was the rather modern WC/shower room. We did not eat supper there as the breakfast was sparse and we were informed via several scrappy posters, amazingly, that only one cup of coffee would be "allowed". This was subsequently seen, via correspondence, by staff as acceptable. I just did not feel that we were actually guests in this building, which was so much potential given the location.

  Lovely panoramic views. Lovely staff the food was average at best. Thehotel requires a major update!!

  Liked: The views from the hotel were sensational. The rooms were tired and the ac was non existent. The staff were very helpful.

  Disliked: The rooms were tired as above in need of modernisation.

  Enjoyed our stay overall but wouldn’t return

  Liked: Location was good for us, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Bedroom and Bathroom very clean

  Disliked: The hotel was a little dated and in need of some renovation. The pool area was disappointing. The pool itself wasn’t clean it had tiles missing, stones on the bottom

  Overall l had a good stay

  Liked: The staff and the breakfast were good. The view from the balcony where you could have breakfast was magnificent.

  Disliked: Just a couple of things relating to the facilities. The bar/ cafeteria weren’t fully open. The hotel is a little bit dated.

If arriving after 18:00, please contact reception. Contact details are on the Booking Confirmation. The best option for getting to the hotel is to take the motorway exit 277: Algarrobo Costa - Caleta de Velez, and not the one before (Exit 285).

The reception is open from 8:00 to 23:00, with an emergency number available throughout the night.
