Liked: lovely traditional stay in the heart of Setenil We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Marta. The location is fantastic, right near everything, making it easy to explore the beautiful streets and sights of Setenil on foot. The house is very traditional and has that lovely, authentic Spanish feel — almost like staying at your grandmother’s house, but in the nicest, most quaint way! It has lots of character and charm, while still being clean and comfortable. The views are absolutely fab and really add to the experience. Our host was lovely, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. A great little place if you want to experience the real charm of Setenil rather than staying somewhere modern and impersonal. We’d happily stay again!

Disliked: A little tip from us… Just something we wish we’d known before arriving in Setenil! There aren’t really any supermarkets, and because we were travelling with the kids, we quickly realised you need to plan your food and drinks around the opening times. Pretty much everywhere closes for the afternoon siesta. The shops didn’t open again until around 5:30pm and were then closed by about 8pm. Restaurants also closed around 4pm before reopening around 7:30pm. And by about 11:30pm, the whole place is completely shut down — it’s honestly like a ghost town! It was a Friday night So our advice, especially if you’re staying with children, is bring plenty of snacks, drinks and anything you might need with you. We did find La Pecha Street Food, which was a great little option for food and drinks and definitely worth knowing about. It’s all part of the charm of staying somewhere so traditional, but it’s definitely something to be prepared for!

Liked: The proprietor Miguel was really nice and provided a very detailed information about spots worth to be visited, itineraries and best restaurants. That was even more valuable because he grew up in Setenil and his recommendations were decldicates not only from tourist point of view but rather from a real inhabitant. Amongst others things, I appreciated very much an air conditioner that kept the temperature at 21 degrees in the apartment and a cold water bottle waiting for me in the fridge.

Disliked: Nothing. This is an ideal deal for that price.
