Exceptional
Liked: Built within an old convent, it was very peaceful. The staff were also really friendly, and informative a bout the history behind the convent and Church. Facilities were also very clean, breakfast was decent and in general all very well.
Disliked: The one minor thing would be if there were more sockets.
Could have been better
Liked: "(somewhat) Personalized breakfast" (you don't get asked how you like your eggs. They come fried, sunny side up).
Disliked: WI-FI not working. (Booking offered 25.00eur credit as compensation but reneged on it and gave only 10.95, that I declined) Nobody there upon arrival. Had to call for someone to show up (make sure you bring a phone with ROAMING phone and internet service, otherwise you're lost). No indication where to go or where the reception is. You have to go "hunt" for it! No indication where the breakfast is (a small notice on the "restaurant door" that it is open only for breakfast, but the breakfast is SOMEWHERE else) THE RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED BUT WE GOT NO NOTICE OF IT (It's in the middle of nowhere. next restaurant is 11km away). The pics do not really match!!! they seemed to be enhanced or taken in an angle to "puff" what's (not) there. Hallway between the rooms too dark, very hard to find the light switch that you HAVE to press to turn on the lights. Rooms quite small. (and Ours looked toward the esplanade... No privacy)! Too noisy. When people leave early, they wake you up.
very good
Liked: Nice staff, very nice food, calm location
Disliked: The AC was not powerful enough, it was a bit hot
Good value for money. Calm and quiet
Liked: This is a great hotel located in a small quiet village on the border of Portugal and Spain. The hotel is build on an old monastery building, so there are those wonderfull vibes. The staff are nice and friendly people. It was a hot weekend and we had a problem with AC in our room, so they gave us a nicer room for free. Nice terrace in front of the building and nice swimming pool. Local restaurant is great too. Overall a great place to stop by and recharge your batteries.
Disliked: Employees don't speak English, but hey, we realise we are in Spain, it is not a problem, just a nice to have thing. We managed to communicate with a translator, no problems.
Rural hotel
Liked: Nice rural location, historic building. Pool was very needed in summer and well functioning but slightly small for the hotel size. Nice breakfast served at the table (but too much food - smaller quantities would be better). The hotel staff serving the breakfast was very kind and smiling.
Disliked: Not enough sunbeds at the pool. Beds were not very comfortable. Facilities (especially rooms and their furniture) could be made more modern. Jacuzzi-shower was working badly. No 24h reception. Need to agree arrival time in advance. We did not like the on-site restaurant (we found restaurant staff not welcoming and not open to explain/engage and food was not to our taste). We recommend having meals in other places nearby (requires driving there).
Excellent
Liked: Everything
Disliked: Everything was good, the staff very friendly, the breakfast was different, but very good.
