Fabulous
A home away from home
Liked: The location was perfect, a fantastic location where a simple bus ride either way could take you to city center or the Zoo in under 10 minutes. The view out the window was gorgeous and the homely feel was fantastic. The breakfast was wonderful and charming! There is honestly no wonder why the place is always full and also the price was perfect! We stayed for 3 nights and it was £470. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you Sunny and James!
Liked: The location was great but very quiet. Close to bus and trains. I was hesitant to share a bathroom, but it was large and sunny and never saw anyone else using it. There was a sink in my room.
Liked: Since I was going to miss breakfast because of the early check-in, they prepared a breakfast package for me. Surprising and great!
A little gem not far from the city centre
Liked: The typical character of an old Scottish house with original features. Good breakfast, enough selection and generous portions.
I Expected more
Disliked: The building is very old, with creaky floors and carpet throughout. The soundproofing is terrible, and you can hear everything from other rooms, even quiet conversations, making it difficult to sleep at night. My single room was extremely small and cold. Breakfast is exclusively Scottish, with limited alternatives. The shared bathroom was supposed to be for only two rooms, but everyone used it because it was always unlocked. One morning, there was even a queue, which was unhygienic and inconvenient. It should be kept locked. During my five-night stay, the sheets were never changed, and my towels were taken away twice without being replaced. Reception supposedly closes at 11 p.m., but nobody answered at 10:45 p.m., forcing me to use a small towel I found in the bathroom. The accommodation was clean, but for the price paid, I expected much more. The only real positive is the location.
Good value, felt safe
Liked: The host was very helpful.
Disliked: The bed was extremely firm.
