    So noisy! Not soundproof

    Liked: The location

Disliked: The noise Worst night ever. It seems the street was in the middle of our little bed.

Avoid room 24 in the basement, especially if you booked and paid for a room with “picturesque views”

    Liked: Beautiful reception area. Characterful.

Disliked: I booked a King Superior Room with a large double bed and sofa bed for my son who was travelling with me. I specifically booked that room as the description mentioned it had “picturesque views” and previous reviewers had posted photos of sweeping views of the city. When we checked in, we were allocated a room in the basement (room 24) which was overlooked by the street and had a view of the bins. To make matters worse, the large windows had ill fitting roller blinds and there was an external light shining into the room. Plus the room and the en-suite were unbearably hot. The hotel staff could not move me to a room with views until my second night, at which point we were allocated room 18 which was so much nicer even though it still had ill fitting roller blinds rather than blackout curtajns. I did give the hotel staff the feedback that the descriptions on Booking.com need to be accurate. If some of the Superior Kings don’t have views, then make that clear. Staff member Chris tried to be as helpful as possible unlike Diane who really didn’t know how to deal with customers who were raising a valid concern in good faith. We won’t be back.

Liked: Housekeeping was good, and made to order breakfast was very good. Like having the nesspresso machine in the room.

Disliked: We were there for three nights and two of the mornings there was no hot water or radiator heat. This is the main reason I give the hotel a poor rating. The inn has been sold and will close the end of 2026 for major renovation, and prices will then increase significantly, I’m sure.
