Very good
Disliked: No curtains around the beds
It was okay
Liked: I like its location.
Disliked: I didn’t like it in terms of hygiene and cleaning.. clumsy toilet and bathroom area.
Liked: Location also good staff, perfect location you can do everything only walk.
Disliked: Nothing
Friendly, safe, sociable stay
Liked: excellent location in the middle of the royal mile. Staff were super friendly and so was the atmosphere of the hostel, this was my first time staying in one and I felt safe as a female solo traveller. Staff are at reception until 11pm and you can always walk to the sister hostel if you need anything later than that - sister hostel is across the road you could see it from our room. The hostel provide you with earplugs and towels. Such a positive and social vibe, they organise activities for guests if they want to meet other travellers e.g. quiz night and celileh dancing, there are reading nooks and books, games for people to use. The kitchen was clean and you can cook your own food there too, there were free milk, tea and coffee which I had before I left. Checking out before reception was open early in the morning was simple too.
Disliked: its not the hostels fault but the lady sleeping in dorm was such a loud snorer and I didnt sleep well, you can get ear plugs at reception but I had my own. I would still book again as for one night its great value for money and edinburgh is a very expensive city. The beds were quite narrow and I wasn't used to climbing on the top bunk so when you book you can ask for a lower bed when you book. The womens only bathrooms were busy even at 7am.
Liked: The location is ideal, right in the heart of the old town. It’s a bit tucked away (you enter via a small staircase wedged between two buildings). The staff are lovely! Absolutely no complaints – you really feel safe here as a solo traveller. The rooms are spacious and have lockers. The bathrooms are clean, and the staff clean regularly. There’s a kitchen available for everyone to use, perfect for cooking or getting to know the other travellers. A superb experience – thank you!
I wouldn't stay here again but the location makes it a good option
Liked: The location was great! Super close to everything and the train station made it very convenient
Disliked: I didn't like how the bathrooms were shared with everyone in the hostel, not just those in your room. The bathrooms were super cramped and the showers were not super clean. They also did not provide any shampoo or anything else.
