Fabulous
Liked: I liked the cooked breakfast on order that way is fresh and not wasted. Not sure if available but since some cooked breakfast are small portions do they have for to add extra egg on request? Staff were v friendly and v good service in general.
Disliked: Lounge area to wait after checking out until transport can be limited if the waiting lounge available is occupied with function. Maybe difficult to accommodate this.
Would definitely stay again
Liked: Pillows comfortable, room was a good size. Location was good with bus stops nearby. Lots of information in the welcome book. Shower was lovely and hand and body washed were a good quality. Tea and coffee making facilities in room were very good. Breakfast choices and quality were excellent
Disliked: The 2 single beds pushed together made an uncomfortable lump.
Comfortable, clean hotel near to great transport links. Great breakfast!
Liked: Amazing breakfast. Warm, comfortable room and had the best nights sleep! Felt really cosy. Lovely staff
Disliked: If I was being picky, the main hall carpets could do with cleaning
A great place for a ahort stay
Liked: This is a very comfortable hotel close to good bus services into the City Centre, and in a pleasant location near the base of Arthur's Seat. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: To our surprise the bedding was changed after the first night of a two night stay. I think this was due to a misunderstanding. It certainly didn't bother us, but was a pity as the hotel is trying to minimise wasteful use of energy and water. We could not afford to stay at this hotel for long, but that doesn't mean it was bad value.
Pretty grounds, lovely room
Liked: I had a really delightful stay here. A single bed, but it was still a good sized single bed. Ignore the outside of this building when you arrive - the interiors are great. I liked being able to walk around the lovely grounds too, and felt safe thanks to the number of people (students etc) going about their day. Different options to get to town. Bus routes easy and close by. I also chose to walk the route to Canongate around the base of Salisbury Crag. Great option and mostly pavement all the way. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, a blend of help yourself items and a hot meal off a menu. The staff at breakfast and in reception all great and clearly well trained. Someone had taken my cab the staff ordered for me at the end of my visit. Once they worked that out they acted swiftly to get it sorted and I still managed to make my train (just - whew)!
Disliked: Wasn't a fan of the coffee at all, for the breakfast or the coffee machine in the room sadly. So stuck to tea on the end and enjoyed a coffee in town instead. I recommend Santu (Canongate) for a stunning coffee!
Amazing, Appreciative and Wonderful
Liked: The room was spectacular especially the space to move around and separate seating area as to not disturb my husband when sleeping. The living room has amazing views of the grounds and it is just a wonderful hang out area after a long day of site seeing and you can order beverages and they will bring it out to you in the living room. The staff is always ready to help with anything, they even helped with a last minute anniversary surprise for me and my husband and I am forever grateful for their help from the front desk to the kitchen manager they went above and beyond and it meant the world to me. They were also very efficient with ordering taxis when needed so that was wonderful as well no wait for taxis do we did not have to walk in the early mornings to meet our tour busses in different areas 100/10 recommend and I will definitely be back again.
