Outdated, poorly cleaned apartment with unresolved refund issues
Liked: basic cleaning products were provided, assistance was immediate when the cook plate did not work, and parking was conveniently available near the apartment
Disliked: The apartment was furnished with a mix of mismatched furniture pieces. Most of the flooring was cheap laminate, and it was obvious that the apartment had been flooded at some point, as several pieces of furniture were swollen from water damage. The curtain was very dirty and had a missing hook, making it unpleasant to touch every time. The bed itself was good, the bed sheets felt old, pillow full with clumps. The kitchen was adequate, but not everything was clean. The frying pan had a damaged Teflon coating with pieces already peeling off. The kettle had significant limescale buildup, and the sandwich toaster was covered in grease and looked as if it had never been cleaned. The bathroom looked as though it had not been renovated since the 1970s. There were various mats on the floor, the tap were leaking, and it was impossible to take a proper shower because the water temperature constantly fluctuated between very hot and cold. In addition, the drain was clogged. The apartment key was the same as the building main entrance key, many shoes and furniture on the hall to apartment. Overall, the apartment seemed to be a random assortment of furniture and decorations assembled simply to rent it out. We decided to leave after two days and requested some reimbursement under the cancellation policy that we had extra paid for when making the booking. The host replied that they did not understand Dutch, although this was simply a forwarded message from Booking.com. This was strange because, prior to our arrival, we had received lengthy messages from the host in German, which we also did not understand. However, we used Google Translate and replied in English; they could have done the same. The host refused any refund and directed us to contact Booking.com. Booking.com then referred us back to the host. To date, we have received no refund. The whole situation feels deceptive, lack of cooperation and we paid for services and protections that were ultimately not provided.
Liked: Cosy apartment really near Bad Ischl Zentrum - walkable distance to shops, cafés, gingerbread bakery. Also close to Katrin and other hills - you can go fir a hike right from terrace breakfast. Very nice and helpful staff.
We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Bad Ischl
Liked: We had a great stay at this apartment. Everything was very clean, including all the kitchen utensils, which were also well-equipped and met all our needs. We appreciated the fact that essential items were already provided upon arrival. The spacious balcony was a big plus, and the location is very convenient—close to the city center. The host was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our stay. Highly recommended!
