Booked luxury room, was given a budget room last minute with no compensation/partial refund
Liked: IF I had booked THIS room it would have been fine. It was in the middle of the old city so had good access to the sea front. It had a walk in wet room, with heated flooring, and ac... But we didn't book this room, we booked the more expensive room.
Disliked: I booked the luxury room for our honeymoon. We were told as we were on the way to the airport our room had been changed. The room was one of their budget rooms in a residential building, not a hotel. The door handle kept falling off, the key opened our door, the shared door, which is the same as the next room's door! There was a broken shelf in the bathroom that was just taped together. We couldn't open our shutters the entire time because everyone can see you from all angles. We asked for a partial refund due to the significant change in room and we were ignored repeatedly or told it would be passed to a manager and nothing was done. We asked about it for the entire 7 days and when we got back, nothing. We booked a room that was luxury, with a nice entrance way, mirrors and nice decor all the way up the entrance, seating area, desk, bed and nice bathroom. We got a small room with no seating area in a residential building that had people's washing out everywhere and building work randomly happening in the courtyard on the morning. If I would have been given a partial refund for the change in room I would have been ok, AND would have booked again when we go back, but the fact that we weren't compensated at all is... and we were made to feel like we were the problem somehow. Had to keep asking for coffee and stuff for the room, eventually bought our own stuff for the "tea and coffee section", got some coffee on one of the days, the cleaning lady brought us some from the office... room wasn't cleaned once the 7 days we were there and I had to clean the dust from the shelves in the wardrobe when I got there. Like I said, the room itself was fine, IF I would have paid the amount the room was worth, but to pay for more and get less and not be compensated, not acceptable. The bathroom was nice, apart from the foul smell from the drains. Had heated flooring and a walk in shower.
Good value for a short stay in a great location
Liked: Communication was good and everything was handled via WhatsApp. It felt more like an Airbnb-style stay, as we didn’t meet any staff.The location was very good and it was absolutely fine for a one-night stay. Breakfast is provided at a restaurant just a few minutes’ walk away, which was convenient. Overall, it was good value for money. It’s a no-frills option, but very much does what it says on the tin!
Disliked: The décor was quite dark, which made an already very small room feel even smaller. The shower rail was broken, which made the shower quite difficult to use. The toiletries were also very basic – there was just a cheap bottle of liquid soap and what appeared to be the same product provided as shower gel.
