Where to stay in Chinon: the best areas

Old town

Between the fortress and the Vienne, in streets of half-timbered and tufa stone houses, there are small hotels, guesthouses and apartments. Museums, restaurants and the climb to the fortress are within walking distance.

Vienne quays

Facing the river are a few hotels with views of the water and the ramparts. The area is flat with parking nearby, practical if you arrive by car and want the centre on your doorstep.

Left bank

Across the bridge, the Saint-Jacques district is more residential and quiet, with a riverside campsite and some rentals. It has the best view of the town and the fortress, and the centre is a few minutes’ walk across the bridge.

Cravant-les-Coteaux and Beaumont-en-Véron
