  Not fancy, great hotel

  Liked: Not a fancy hotel, but everything works very well. Very comfortable bed with a duvet. Great bathroom without the usual little bottles of some weird shower gel or leaky shower. Very close to a tram station, which works very well in Freiburg.

  Disliked: No elevator, but that is not a big problem.

  I would recommend staying at Viavelo Hotel, we spent 4 nights there and thought it was great

  Liked: Very helpful friendly staff, excellent breakfast, comfortable beds, everything worked well! Amazing to be able to get free tram rides into the centre, very quick & easy.

  A good place to stay but be prepared to take public transport to town. It is not very near

  Liked: Never take.

  Disliked: I didn’t check if the elevator exists. No elevator but staff was kind enough to help with our luggage. Thanks so much.

  Pleasant stay in what I presume is usually a really quiet area. Easy access to the city center

  Liked: The view from the balcony was quite pleasant, the mattress was comfortable, and there was really nice water pressure in the shower. Smart TV with streaming services. Good coffee at breakfast. Free parking right outside the building. Quite conveniently located 2 minutes from the tram station; a ticket for free public transport was provided by the hotel, which was a nice bonus. It was also quite helpful that we were allowed to check in (very!) early.

  Disliked: We had asked about gluten-free options at check-in and were told they would defrost (aufbacken) some rolls for my friend; they even asked what time we would be down. Despite turning up on the agreed time, those rolls had, all bar one, already been given to other guests who had turned up earlier, so she didn't have to leave on a completely empty stomach. But it's a bit disappointing; it's really not that exotic as a dietary restriction. There was a loud party in the building opposite our room, with people shouting and cars running past midnight, which is obviously not the hotel's fault. The balcony wasn't private, but one long balcony, shared with all the other rooms. We couldn't get the "normal" TV channels to work properly.

  Great place to stay when visiting Frieburg

  Liked: Good location near to swimming lake and tram station to centre. Helpful receptionist checked us in early. Breakfast good.

  Liked: Cheap, great stuff, quiet, nice location. Helpful workers.

  Disliked: Hot, not aircon. Horrible in summer. The hotel did provide cooling fan but wasn't enough.
