  We left after seeing the room and lack of room facilities, dark, old hotel. I would not recommend

  Liked: Room looked clean.

  Disliked: No fridge or kettle in our room. Room was hot. Staircase walls and floor was dirty.

  A very comfortable stay at Zum Roten Baren. We loved being in the old part of down and close to many attractions

  Liked: A great location in the old part of town. We enjoyed the history of the guest house being the oldest guest house in Germany. A spacious, quiet and comfortable room with a lovely breakfast each morning.

  Apart from our arrival hiccup, we had a pleasant stay

  Liked: Loved the location. We had a clean, cosy room overlooking a medieval-looking street. The breakfast was very adequate with a good selection of food.

  Disliked: I didn't like the modern-looking bar which is totally out of place given the character of the building's exterior. I also didn't like the fact that when we arrived we couldn't get a meal or a drink onsite because the whole of the ground floor had been taken over foe some function or other.

  It is a good location but I would recommend finding someplace else

  Liked: Location was the only real plus.

  Disliked: The staff was borderline rude, they all seemed angry about being there.

  Adequate and well-placed but a warmer welcome please

  Liked: Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was at a decent standard. The hotel is very conveniently situated ina historic part of town. Although trams pass it regularly, sound insulation was good and we were not troubled.

  Disliked: Staff were sometimes slow to respond and almost all merely imparted information as briefly as possible, doing nothing to make us feel particularly welcome. The layout of the room was curious, with the washbasin in the bedroom rather than with the WC and shower. It’s a pity there were not more signs of the hotel’s lengthy history in evidence.

  Wonderful Hotel!!

  Liked: The staff was extremely nice, helpful and very accommodating. The hotel was beautiful, historic, quaint, clean, comfortable, and in an excellent location right in the Altstadt. The breakfast was amazing! I highly recommend Zum Roten Baren!!
