  Liked: We had a great stay at Hotel Porta Nigra! The room was very clean, spacious, and nicely decorated in a modern style. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!

  Liked: Staff held our bags for us for a few hours after check out.

  Disliked: Our room had extremely squeaky floors which we imagine was an issue for the guests below and made us walk on eggshells! Our room required us to go outside up external stairs to get from the lobby to the room which could be a problem in the rain.

  Could have been awesome

  Liked: Traveling in a group of 4 and had 2 rooms. Rooms was rather large and room 1 was comfortable enough. Nice little area outside the room for us to meet in a courtyard. Location was great to sight see Trier.

  Disliked: As we were on a friends trip, we requested twin beds. Some how our request got switched when we had asked to try and have the rooms nearby each other. We ended up with 1 room twins and 1 room a queen. When we arrived and checked in, 1 room was ready(the room with the twin beds) and was told the other would be available later. We checked in for both rooms and put our items in the room and went out sightseeing. When we returned around 6 PM and went to the rooms we found the 2nd room was not only a queen bed, but also set as a connecting room. The reception desk was already closed for the day and had to deal with an uncomfortable sleeping arrangement. Not to mention, why didn't they just put us in that connecting room.

  Well located, comfortable accommodation

  Liked: In a good location for main area of town. Comfortable beds Good shower Lovely lady on reception - very patient and helpful

  Disliked: Be aware, although there is a lift, access to some rooms still involve climbing some stairs. Not as easy as it could be to book parking space in advance online.

  Good room for a fair price

  Liked: Nice view from my room and the self check in was relatively easy. Great location some 5 mins from the Hauptmarkt or 10 mins from the Train station. The room was clean and tidy and my room had a bit of a view of the Porta Nigra itself.

  Disliked: The room was sweltering hot during my stay and unfortunately the provided tower fan in the room was faulty.
