  Fair accommodation (that needs a touch-up) in the heart of Turin

  Liked: Fairly ease checkin process, luggage deposit and pretty well-equipped kitchen.

  Disliked: The shower honestly sucked, the double bed was so-so and the sofa bed was below standard.

  Good location spoiled by noise

  Liked: Great Location, bit dodgy after dark.

  Disliked: Bronze room was close to the very noisy front gate. Quite a lot of seemingly unnecessary noise in the morning.

  Overwhelming smell of mold in room

  Liked: the location is great, within walking distance of lots of restaurants and the city centre

  Disliked: Our group had booked 4 rooms. 3 were ok. They had just been cleaned when we got there. The doors were open to allow the floors to dry. In spite of that, on entering one room, which is on the ground floor, the smell of mold was overpowering. We informed the staff member on duty and requested a different room. He rang his manager who said they would put in an air purifier. Given how dangerous it is to breathe in mold we refused. As they did not have a room available we asked for a refund. At first the manager refused and insisted it would be sufficient to put in an air purifier. We insisted on a refund and eventually the manager agreed. We were able to book a room in a 4 star hotel a 10min walk away. This actually cost less than the rooms in Porta Palace!! Although the other 3 rooms had a musty smell, they were clean and the bedding and towels were spotless. However I wouldn't spend more than 1 night in these rooms. We have no criticism of the staff member who had carried out his duties in a professional manner. The building is old and so dampness is obviously a challenge but, given the serious health implications of mold inhalation, the owners of the Porta Palace need to sort out the problem as a matter of urgency.
