Where to stay in Turin: the best areas
Historic centre
Between Piazza Castello, Via Roma and Piazza San Carlo are the classic hotels, some in old palazzi. The Royal Museums, the Egyptian Museum and the Mole are on foot. The porticoes let you stroll even when it rains.
Quadrilatero Romano
North-west of Piazza Castello, this district of narrow streets has small hotels and apartments in restored buildings. It is the area of bars and restaurants for a night out, and the Porta Palazzo market is next door. The cathedral is a few minutes away.
San Salvario and Porta Nuova
Next to Porta Nuova station there are practical hotels for those arriving by train, and the San Salvario district adds apartments and nightlife. The Valentino park and the river are very close. The metro takes you to the centre and to Lingotto.
Via Po and Vanchiglia
Along Via Po and towards Piazza Vittorio Veneto there are hotels and apartments in arcaded buildings, a stroll from the Mole. Behind it, Vanchiglia is a lively district that is quieter at night, near the river and the Gran Madre.
