    Not a positive experience overall

Liked: Unfortunately our experience with the Sofitel wasn't positive. We stayed for a total of 4 nights when we first arrived in Morocco from the US. The positives: + Our room type was upgraded when we arrived to a room on the 18th floor with a lovely view of the Hassan II mosque and ocean beyond + The burgers we had the first afternoon were quite flavorful and perfectly cooked to our requested doneness of “medium well” + The walk to the Port Gare/train station and Hassan Mosque was quite easy + The front desk staff made an effort to be accommodating

Disliked: The negatives of our stay: - Upon arrival to the room there were multiple things that were not as expected including: • we were given incorrect information about the hotel services/hours for bar • the couch was soiled/damaged • plaster pieces all over the shower enclosure • the room had 4 closets and a total of 9 hangers • there were 2 toilets/bathrooms, but exactly 1 hand towel was provided during the entirety of our stay - The room had water damage at some point in the past; evident in the shower enclosure (rotting/foul smell and pieces of plaster falling from the ceiling), and on the bottom edges of the walls/trim along the floor edges - Although the hamburgers we had for late lunch were good, the restaurant service was both very slow and not up to par for an establishment of this caliber - Very few of the staff had any fluency in English - the room was not cleaned/refreshed for 2 days, despite our "please make up the room sign" and wall/electronic sign outside our door - When the staff finally did a rush straightening effort (after we made several requests at the front desk) they took one of the robes from the room. It was not replaced for the duration of our stay. - On day two, one of the housekeeping staff knocked and delivered an iron to a closet in our room but there was no ironing board anywhere in our room, certainly not in the closet she delivered the iron into.

    Great staff and lovely breakfast!

Liked: We stayed here for two nights as we travelled through Morocco. All the staff were friendly, polite and willing to help. Breakfast was varied and plentiful and the waiting staff were extremely attentive and kind. For us, we felt the hotel rooms were a little tired which was a shame but we did sleep well.
