Good
Really enjoyed being at Casa Paloma. We’d love to return sometime to explore the area further
Liked: Well equipped kitchen, peaceful village location, homely feel. We were in the area for a large international motorcycle event at Grandola. Our requirement was home or apartment close to British Team in Comporta. Casa Paloma was a great find. Every day we returned to accommodation that had the feel of being home. The host was very helpful with enquiries/recommendations.
Disliked: Lack of fencing to rear of garden. We did get a few visits from local wandering dogs.
Typical example of foreigner who buys a house, rents it out for profit, and shirks responsibility
Liked: The view from the garden is nice, to enjoy during the day, at night too many mosquitoes.
Disliked: The pictures on booking.com are from a long time ago. The main house has a mouldy smell. The ceiling fan in one of the two bedroom in the main house was broken. It was promised that it would be repaired, it wasn’t. A stand fan was put in the bedroom which made a lot of noise and didn’t cool the room. The third bedroom, a cabana, isn’t a suitable bedroom, it is more a sauna with a 140cm bed and lots of mosquitos with no mosquito screens. The fourth bedroom, also a cabana was locked for whatever reason. All beds were regular double beds of 140-150cm which is for two persons quite small. Sheets, bedspreads and table cloth all had stains. The first day of my vacation it took me quite some time to wash everything. (Sleeping)couch in the living room was ripped and dirty, doesn't look like the fresh blue sofa on the pictures. There were no locks on the doors, so we had to take all valuables to the beach. Considering that we couldn't use two of the four bedrooms, and that the fan was broken in an other bedroom, and all other imperfections and inconveniences, we asked the owner for a reasonable compensation of euro 100 per night (on the paid amount of euros 400 per night) but he refuses any compensation, and either denies imperfections and inconveniences or calls sleepless nights, a whole day of washing sheets, bedspreads etc. minor issues and points to good reviews which makes me wonder about those reviews. It is not about the money, it is about the price tag!
Charming blue and white house
Liked: Charming place, with little houses as bedrooms. Loved the outside table for lunch/dinner and the outside sun beds!
Disliked: The area seems absolutely safe, but we were quite surprised that the doors didn't have any locks. Let's say it gave an extra charm to the place. We were just happy not to have anything too precious to worry about.
