Fantastic location – would definitely stay again!
Liked: We absolutely loved our stay at Bairro Alto Guesthouse! The location is fantastic – right in the heart of Lisbon, with everything within easy reach. There’s a lovely bakery just downstairs where we picked up breakfast every morning and enjoyed it back in our room with wonderful views over the city. Another big plus was the helpful parking recommendation from the guesthouse. We arrived by car, and the suggested parking was conveniently close by, which made everything so much easier. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!
Disliked: Just something to be aware of: Bairro Alto is a lively neighbourhood, especially at weekends, so it can get a little noisy at night. However, that’s part of staying in such a central location, and the double-glazed windows do a good job of keeping the noise down. For us, the fantastic location more than made up for it!

Great location for eateries and bars
Liked: Amazing location with view over Lisbon toward St George’s Castle. In the heart of an area full of night life, restaurants and bars - but it does get noisy at night because of that. The double glazed door to the Juliet balcony blocks out most of the noise, but that means you’ll need to sleep with the air conditioning on for a bit of air.
Disliked: Just something small, but a couple chairs at the window would have been great to enjoy the view. Noisy air conditioner, it probably just needs a service after a long summer.
Liked: The staff was very responsive to any and all messages that I sent! The room and bath were very clean. It was a great location.
Disliked: The park across the street was a bit noisy with the loud music. Perhaps that isn't an all the time situation, but it was when I was there.
Liked: The room was very nice, we had everything we needed and it was very easy to access the building!
Disliked: There’s a bar on the street directly below the room that gets very crowded until around 2 AM, so it was way too noisy, and we couldn’t open the window if we wanted to sleep.
A comfortable stay in an amazing location, perfect for exploring Lisbon on foot!
Liked: We really enjoyed our stay at Bairro Alto Guesthouse! The location was definitely the highlight for us. We didn’t have a car in Lisbon, and we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, with plenty of restaurants, cafés, bars and attractions nearby. The room was clean, comfortable and perfect for our stay. We also really appreciated having lockers available to store our luggage, which was extremely convenient and allowed us to continue exploring the city without carrying our bags around. Being right in the heart of Lisbon made everything so easy and convenient. We would definitely recommend staying here, especially if you’re visiting without a car!
Disliked: The only thing we would have appreciated was a small fridge in the room to keep drinks and water cold, especially for the next day.
