Liked: Garam Guesthouse is in a clean and quiet area, with easy acces to whatever you may need. A shop is really close by, so as some very nice restaurants where locals eat (like A Zona). The bed was large and confortable. We really enjoyed the shower conditions and the bath products. Regarding breakfast, the eggs were delicious and the same can be said about the orange fresh. The coffee machine was great as well. Some of the employees are gentle and considerate.

Disliked: The most important inconvenience was the smell of mold that hit you the second you entered the room. Every time we came back into the room, we had to keep the window opened because of the smell, even if at the end of October is not warm enough to keep your window opened. The wardrobe was unsable - you can't call that "rustic charm"...it looks like old, dilapidated furniture with doors that don't close right and warped wood. We had to keep our clothes in the baggage because of it. The bathroom door has the same "barn" look, it doesn't close well and the smell from the bathroom creeps into the room. The floor has the same used, chipped wood and it is slanted. It may look good in photos but it's not the same as a real experience - it's unpractical and inconfortable. You have to book a time slot for breakfast. There could be more to say about this but what we found unacceptable was that the employees sweep the floor during breakfast, when the food is on the plates. The first day we asked the person with the broom to stop because the dust goes on everything, she said sorry and she continued. For the price and airs found there, it would be normal to use a vacuum (not a broom) before or after breakfast. Overall, it was below expectations.

Liked: The location was fab, it was out of the noise, but takes less than 20 minutes to stroll into Lisbon, along the way you have so many places to stop, catch a drink, browse etc. The style of the place is gorgeous, so different from your standard hotel, we loved it. Train stations so close, we travelled to Sintra, Cascais for a few euros all within 10 minutes to walk to the train station and also used the commuter ferry to pop over and see the Christ the King....I feel we did Lisbon on a budget without compromising any luxury

    Disliked: nothing
