Fabulous
Liked: I loved the setting, history, and design of the rooms. Lovely terrace and view of hills from pool. The cortijo has a tranquil atmosphere while being close to beaches and nearby towns. Great for parking. Elena was extremely welcoming and thoughtful. She went out her way to make me feel at home!
Disliked: A kettle in the room would be great, but apart from that rooms well equipped.
Peaceful, relaxing but not 4 stars
Liked: The pool is excellent. The views are beautiful and it’s only a 5 minute walk down to the supermarket (which is important due to the lack of food available at the hotel) The ambience is pleasant and we felt relaxed. There was hardly any other people around so we had the pool mostly to ourselves! I think the property is mostly used for people stopping off for a night or two as they pass through.
Disliked: As stated by others, this is not a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The sun beds were old and faded, two ripped when we were using them. Despite the website saying there was a snack bar- there wasn’t! This meant that we had to buy provisions in From the supermarket for during the day. The evening menu was limited and we didn’t use the restaurant and opted to walk into San Jose-for food. The menu doesn’t match the hotels own website at all. In the last day I couldn’t even get a cup of tea at the bar as they said they had none! I saw no horses at the adjoining stables, which was part of the expected ‘experience’. So many things were in disrepair and not looked after or being maintained. The showers by the pool were particularly poorly maintained with tiles missing and quite grubby. Having said all of that, we would go back as it was peaceful and away from any hustle and bustle.
Liked: Very friendly and attentive personnel. Spacious room and bathroom with a view to the natural park. Lots of free parking spots in the hotel yard. Lovely big bath towel. Minibar with water. Really good breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. Everything tasted marvellous.

Liked: Beautiful place. Lovely pool. Staff (Elena) is professional, kind and very helpful.
Disliked: Breakfast is bad.
Liked: Location was great, lovely and peaceful, but just a 10 minute easy walk into San José. The rooms are big ans spacious, simply decorated keeping in style with the property, and fantastic air-conditioning system, so great sleep. The pool is big and well maintained, room for everyone, lovely to come back to after a day exploring.
Disliked: Nothing really, if had to say anything, would be that the room terraces could do with a small clothes airer to hang wet swimwear as at the moment the only place is on the chairs, but apart from that, nothing to moan about
Liked: We found Elena a fantastic woman who explained all about the cortijo. He vitality is contagious!!! Thanks to her I will call my future dog Montoya.
Disliked: I left my pijamas. Silly me.
