Liked: Beautiful!

Liked: Who wouldn't want to stay in a palace? Am amazing place to stay. Great location close to all the attractions, the cathedral and castle. Easy to walk to restaurants and bars. Close to car park.

Disliked: The Marquis owner admits that this is not a hotel but the chance to stay in a palace. It's cheap compared to full facility hotels, but poor value for being housed in a very small room, possibly once servants quarters in a much later extension to the palace. Furnishings are mostly scruffy examples of C20th century cheap repros. Glamorous bed a small double. Linen adequate and clean. Small shower room, grubby and well worn. Stairs require a safety review but they'd need a complete rebuild to comply with hotel regs. If there were any fire precautions I didn't notice them Garden is pleasant enough but in need of attention. Pool full of leaves, not an asset. Sad really, a missed chance to have created an exclusive property.
