Liked: Very peaceful. Great pool. Lovely outdoor spot for having breakfast, as well as the indoor option. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Very hard to get any food on Sunday afternoon/ evening nearby.

Liked: A very charming and peaceful place, like something out of an old Spanish movie. The service was very friendly.

Disliked: The pool could also be available after sunset.

    Perfection

Liked: Everything. The staff are kind, generous, and speak good English. The pool is very big and clean. The character of the building is so romantic. The location in the national park is beautiful and it is possible to walk to a nice little restaurant in the neighbouring village in 10 minutes. The beach is less than 15 minutes' drive. Daily cleaning. Great breakfast (fresh juice). We were worried before we came that it would be too hot as there is no AC. This was NOT a problem despite 37 degree heat and us having a 6 month old baby. The old buildings are designed to be cool and the fans worked well.

    Disliked: Leaving

A lovely quiet place to explore the area

Liked: It was an unusual location for us as it is well out of town on the edge of a national park, but it became a real pleasure to return to at the end of the day. Very helpful staff. We had a cheese, Iberian ham, and toast supper kindly prepared for us by Eric on our first evening as we didn't want to drive again that day. All washed down with beer and wine from the bar. It was very hot during our stay, and although there was a strong breeze, once you closed the door at night, the heat was oppressive. Luckily, we just asked for a desk fan from the helpful staff, and it became much more comfortable. It has a great pool. We used this tranquil spot as a great place to explore the area. We ate very well in the many beach restaurants that line the coast, albeit each involving a 15-30 minute drive. Vilma near Cape Trafalgar is very relaxed and has good food and fabulous sunsets. The urban beach at Barbate is the closest at about 15 minutes' drive, but there are others that are less busy, such as El Palmar and Conil, about 20-30 minutes drive towards Cadiz. In the opposite direction, we loved our visit to the old town in Tarifa and the windy beach; a haven for kite surfers and wind surfers.

Disliked: At first, we wondered what we had let ourselves in for as the last 800-1000m is along a dirt road once you leave the little village of San Ambrosio. You are well away from any shops, bars and restaurants. You have to drive to access any of these amenities. There is good and bad to this, but the good outweighs the bad once you settle in. There is a pizza joint in San Ambrosio, which opens at 8.00pm. Take some food with you as a backup. There is a fridge in the room. It's a lovely quiet spot. Our only real complaint, based on our room in a row of six, would be that in the late afternoon, when most people return to their rooms, you are only separated from your neighbours by a chest high bamboo screen. You either retire inside your room or head to the terrace for a drink. This feature doesn't apply to all rooms.

Good to know

Please note that the hotel has a rural location inside a nature reserve, where there are no street names. Therefore the use of Sat Nav devices is not recommended when trying to reach the hotel. The easiest route is to take the A22-33 via Barbate or Caños de Meca. The first sign to the hotel is half-way between these two towns.Swimming pool: Closed from Wed, Sep 30, 2026 until Tue, Jun 1, 2027
