    Needs work

Liked: Location, attractive house from the outside, welcoming staff on arrival. Crisp bed linen and fresh towels. Timely breakfast service and 11 am Sunday check out.

Disliked: In my twin room (Nightingale), one wall lamp above the bed was poorly taped onto the light, hanging off. The bed had been pulled forward slightly from the wall, but the 5 inch gap behind had not been vacuumed in a long time and dust was also hanging off the wall. The ensuite shower room looked clean until I stepped into the shower to find black mold all over the shower hose and shower rose. It was dripping off, so clearly not been wiped in a long time. The window draft was blowing the curtain open (it was a stormy weekend). In the breakfast room, bearing in mind this is a beautiful character property in a beautiful seaside town, the bench style seating was black vinyl with hot pink buttons and the tables were painted black. There was a beautiful mural of Falmouth on the wall, but ornaments were mismatched and walls adorned with dated metalwork. The decor did not meet the look and feel of the building, or the expectations most guests, in my opinion, would have when looking forward to a holiday/short stay in a very pretty English seaside town. Stickers on the entrance door show Booking.com high scores from 2017 and 2018. I don't believe these scores would stand today. I would not stay again. The owners would benefit from visiting their rivals and prettying up what they have. I would be happy to be charged for breakfast (it was included), and I was happy to pre-order my cooked breakfast choice the night before, but a picture menu that looks like a take-away menu isn't what I consider 'English Guest House' class. On leaving, I spotted the pond on the front lawn. Very nice, but absolutely too cramped for the number of Koi in it! They might bring good luck, but probably not if they aren't cared for appropriately. Made me feel quite sad. I really hope things improve, maybe they are new owners just finding their feet?
