Amazing room and location over shadowed by an unwelcoming host Tony and horrid shower

Liked: We loved how close to the old town centre it was. Also nestled next to river ness was amazing! The room was very tidy and well presented. The beds were all made up nicely and all sheets were clean. The bathroom was very clean.

Disliked: Unfortunately, the beautiful room was was made less so by an uninviting, patronising and (frankly) terrifying host Tony. Perhaps it was due to us 3 only staying 1 night but he didn't really waste any time to make us feel welcome. We were greeted outside where he directed me exactly where to park. We carried our luggage in and before showing us to our room he asked the 3 of us what we were going to have for breakfast. He gave us 3 options quickly. We asked for him to repeat one of the options to this he appeared to become impatient. We all agreed on pancakes (which I'll get to). Then after our interview he showed us to the room where he taught us how to use the shower which was extremely convoluted and confusing. As an example, he said, "Leave it on cold for 15 seconds before turning it to hot, there will be a loud noise, don't worry about it." Then after the shower explanation he decided to show us how the door works, to the point that he explained how a key turns a lock where you can push the door open. (WHO WOULDVE THOUGHT THATS HOW A DOOR WORKED?!) Then he gave us a final warning about mot eating in the room to which we agreed we would only eat in the dining room downstairs. We used the shower, it was extremely temperamental, it was either ice cold or scorching hot, even with gingerly turning the dial after the horrible screeching noise it made had subsided. At breakfast there was no "how was your night?" Or "did you sleep well?" Tony was not welcoming at all. The pancakes were a huge disappointment where he poored a drop of maple syrup on our pancakes himself in front of us. A dab of chocolate spread on the side and some sliced strawberries with 3 pancakes layed side by side on the plate. It looked very underwhelming and uninviting. There was no English breakfast tea downstairs in the breakfast room so I went upstairs to my room and got some from there as I was too terrified to engage our grumpy host. Will never go...

Liked: We loved the location staff and comfort of the room attention to detail was amazing. We would stay here again!!

Disliked: It is a bed and breakfast i thought the proce we were paying for, included breakfast until we arrived and were told we didn't book breakfast. When i went back on to the site, you had to swip right fir the same room with breakfast, my mistake.

Welcoming host and a great place to stay

Liked: We were welcome by our host and show where to park, he also pointed out on a map recommendations for dinner, drinks and live music. The location is quite central, within easy walking distance to everywhere. Our room was facing the back and quiet, with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. It was up a fairly steep flight of stairs but that is to be expected in an old house. The house itself is lovingly kept. Breakfast was good, cooked to order and arrived incredibly fast.

    Comfortable stay

Liked: Room was comfortable and it had a good size bathroom. Breakfast was good. Location is pretty good as you are only 15 min away from the train station.

Disliked: Room carpet needed a good vacuuming.
