    Passable for the price paid!

Liked: Location good. Bed very comfortable. A warm, friendly cheerio on check out. A passable stay for the price!

Disliked: Reception unmanned on arrival so not the usual Inverness warm welcome. Room & furniture dated, curtains half hanging off and windows in a state (hard to see past that for the great view of the river/castle beyond). Lamps standing there to move them to somewhere you can plug in we presumed! Damaged radiator cover. Crumbly hotel exterior - hopefully it will be restored one day!

My stay was awful, the management was awful I would stay there again it was the last place on earth.!!!!!

Disliked: Very poor, the room I got was awful a 2 inch hole in the window frame blown in very cold wind. We called to complain and to get a room exchanged but there answer was no.they gave an extra duvet to keep warm, for me that’s shocking. The room was discussing.

Lovely hotel with many old features a beautiful staircase

Liked: The room was very pleasant and although without a view I was not concerned and it had the afternoon sun as well. It was well decorated. The window needs some attention. Location of the hotel was good and overlooked the River Ness. It was also just down from the cathedral. You have the castle just over the river on the opposite hill. It is uphill to the railway and bus station. Personally I did not have an issue with the hill. Its not far to the bus station or railway station. For breakfast there was a wide range of food from cooked breakfast to cereals and fruit and juices. Sadly on my last day porridge was off and I had to request porridge. I thought this was a bit sad as its Scotland and wherever I go there is always a large tub of porridge on the go. With the dining room attached if you wanted to eat in there it had to be booked ahead.

Disliked: I did not like the lack of porridge. I found that some staff in the morning were less than happy. The breakfast room just scraped to be open at 7am. I felt there was a lack of continuity with the dining room and it seemed something tacked on and too large and impersonal. I felt that it did not seem to cater for guests of the hotel and the choice of food was not worthy of the price. I cannot comment on the food as I did not stay to eat there. There were also posters around the hotel advertising a dinner at the hotel. This is not correct as you just cannot go in the dining room without booking. For many arriving at 3pm there is little chance you can take up the options to have dinner there unless you book ahead and not everyone is aware of this. There was one that said dinner served Sunday to Thursday I think it was for the basic hotel price. Anyway it was confusing. I think the two rooms at the front of the hotel where you could sit, more could be done to make them inviting. They had a lovely view.
