  Great Location but That's About It!

  Liked: Location, location, location. Aside from the group of boisterous drunks that were in a heated argument just outside the hotel entrance upon our arrival and in the middle of the afternoon, the location was superb. Nice restaurants, pubs, shops, and historic sites abound are all very close.

  Disliked: This is NOT a hotel like I've ever stayed in before. We arrived around 3:15'ish as I recall and could not get into the hotel. We knocked, knocked. A passerby tried to assist but to no avail. Finally, someone came to the door, let us in and reviewed the information for accessing the hotel. The hotel had sent us an email with checking in details but that did not go exactly as planned. There was no breakfast included (I thought there was but apparently, I was wrong), we never saw any hotel staff again after that brief meeting on the Friday when we checked in. Our room was very spacious and surprisingly clean and on the third floor (I think they considered it the 2nd but it was 3 levels above ground level. Go figure). The hotel does not have any parking but suggests a paid parking garage that's about a 5-minute walk. There is a small spot in front of the hotel that can be used for unloading but you can't stay there. That evening, we did visit the Hootenanny pub and enjoyed some Scottish folkish music, and the performer was quite good.

  It was ok for a quick 1 night stay, no parking. Bed was ok

  Liked: Bed was comfortable

  Disliked: Bathroom had loose toilet seat and loose toilet roll holder dust in bathroom

  Disliked: Noise from bar at night time, very small room for price and no elevator lugging luggage

  Liked: Room was lovely and clean and comfortable. Plenty of nice coffee and biscuits. I let myself into the room and out again so I didn't see any staff

  Disliked: It was noisy in the bar but I had been warned in advance and once I got to sleep I slept well

  Liked: Loved the location and historic building. How wonderful to just walk downstairs to a warm welcome, great food and even better music.

  Disliked: Not a problem for us, but this property is best for able-bodied folks who can carry luggage upstairs and walk a bit for parking.
