Liked: Good location, room spacious
NEVER AGAIN!
Liked: The situation of the hotel was perfect for the train station and the centre.
Disliked: The situation of the hotel was perfect for the train station and the centre. We paid for the larger Privilege room and were given initially the smaller room which was tastefully decorated and looked newly refurbed and when we questioned our room we were given the top floor and the larger room. The decor was tired, the carpet didn’t meet the walls, the radiators didn’t heat fully and the bathroom mirror was faulty. The lighting in the room was poor also. Breakfast was badly organised, the two tea/coffee machines weren’t working properly, nobody was available to speak to, the marmalade dispenser was empty and the toaster wasn’t ready for use. The breakfast choice was poor, no pastries apart from croissants and lack of staff at the hot plate. We paid for dinner in advance and chose the steak and wine offer, we were informed that they had run out of mushrooms but were given broccoli instead. The cut of steak was abysmal and as tough as an old boot, chips and peppercorn sauce were tasty. We left in the morning and received a charge of £15.15 on our credit card and when we phoned and questioned this we were told it was for parking even though we had informed the reception on check in we had arrived by train. The hotel informed us it would credit it back to our card. No such thing happened and we contacted them again to be told it was now for the Pepsi one of us had at the meal and when we questioned the cost of a Pepsi they said okay we will credit you £11.90 back which we have now received.
Most enjoyable
Liked: The location was excellent. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The bathroom mirrors were too high and sinks tiny, otherwise all good.
