Lovely hotel and facilities in a great location

Liked: Beautiful location, first floor landing had coffee, tea and cake plus sofa which was a lovely touch. Double room good size and had the right facilities. Clean. Bed linen spotless. Bathroom lovely. Lounge areas comfortable and welcoming

Disliked: Unfortunately no lift for a person with disabilities which was a struggle to get up and down. In the room, few stains on bedspreads which was disappointing especially when rest of room was spotless. Shower tray lip was too low as water overflowed onto floor and down one side of the wall, under sink and to toilet. This was reported when left that morning,

Liked: It is a lovely, stylish and very scottish establishment. Our room was also very nice and decorated with very good taste.

Disliked: The restaurant only offers a menu and is a bit pricy. Not a big deal but just something that is good to know. The sound proofing of the room could have been a bit better, but with the kind of guests they seem.to have, people are respectful and keep the noise level down, so definitely not a dealbreaker,

Beautiful accommodation, but sadly let down by extremely poor service, a lack of professionalism

Liked: Very well appointed hotel. Rooms very comfortable.

Disliked: We were extremely disappointed with both the service and the food during our stay. Despite having reserved dinner for 7.15pm, by 8.50pm we were still waiting to be served. What made matters worse was the complete lack of communication from the staff, who made no attempt to explain the delay or keep us informed. Eventually, we gave up and went to bed without dinner. We were travelling as a family, including elderly relatives, which made the experience particularly disappointing. We did receive an apology at breakfast the following morning, but by then the evening had rather clouded our stay. Surprisingly, at checkout there was no further acknowledgement of what had happened, let alone an apology. We paid over £550 for one night's accommodation. While breakfast appeared to be complimentary and we weren't charged for the bottle of wine and water we'd had in the bar, this seemed to be considered sufficient compensation for an evening and a stay that had been completely ruined. For a hotel charging these prices, we expected a much higher standard of service and hospitality. Having since read other reviews, I can see a recurring theme of concerns about the food and service. I only wish I'd paid more attention to them before booking. The accommodation itself was lovely, but sadly the standard of service fell far short of what we would expect from a hotel at this price point. The lack of communication, professionalism and attention to guests was extremely disappointing and overshadowed what should have been a wonderful family stay. A hugely disappointing experience, and certainly not one we would recommend.
