  Quiet, relaxing, accommodating

  Liked: It is a family runned hotel you are greeted with a smile and something to drink what ever the time,even if your group come at different times. Shows you to your room and will help with bag if need. The rooms are nice clean.Good selection of breakfast to choose from, all fresh and cooked. They are very accommodating to everyone. You open the door of the hotel you will be in peasholm park in minutes. 10 minutes to local shop and takeaway.30minute or so to North beach.

  Liked: Lovely and cosy, we had a fantastic stay at the Gordon. Such a lovely, warm family who went above and beyond to help. Great breakfast, it was so effortless and well organised. Very comfy beds and hot shower. Good location opposite Peasholme Park. Would love to return in summer!

  Liked: The hotel was perfect for my wife and myself, it was in a quiet area of scarborough with excellent facilities near by. I cannot fault anything in the Gordon hotel. 10 out of 10

  A Pleasant Stay in a Nice Location

  Liked: My wife & I enjoyed a two-night B&B stay at The Gordon Hotel and had a very pleasant experience overall. The hotel is in a quiet location, with free, unrestricted street parking available, as well as a grassed area directly in front of the hotel where guests can park. We received a very friendly welcome from the owner, who offered us tea or coffee on arrival and took our breakfast order at the same time. It was a little surprising to have to decide what we wanted for breakfast so soon after arriving, although it was also a nice personal touch. Having everything pre-ordered helped to minimise waste and meant breakfast was organised in advance. Our room was light, airy and clean, with a comfortable bed and nice linen. Breakfast was good and exactly as we had pre-ordered. The location was excellent for exploring the area. The hotel is right next to Peasholm Park, around a 15-minute walk to North Bay, approximately 10 minutes to the Open Air Theatre and around 25 minutes to South Bay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the friendly welcome, peaceful location and good breakfast. We would happily recommend The Gordon Hotel and would book again. One point worth noting for prospective guests: the main photograph currently shown on Tripadvisor does not appear to be a view that you would actually get from the hotel. We feel this is worth mentioning so that guests have an accurate expectation when looking at the listing.

  Disliked: There were a couple of small areas that could perhaps do with some attention. Some of the furniture in our room was looking a little tired, the door catch was a little wobbly and needed attention. We had to use a small spoon to move it back into place so we could exit the room. We mentioned this to the owner when we left, and he explained that previous guests had lost the key and forced the lock, and said he would arrange for it to be repaired. The bathroom toiletries were also a little disappointing. The soap provided seemed unusually watery rather than the more gel-like consistency we would normally expect, and there was no shower gel. This may simply have been overlooked, and as we didn’t raise it with the owner during our stay, we chose to purchase some ourselves. At around £100 per night, we did feel it was a little on the pricey side. However, we later realised that there was a Tom Jones concert taking place nearby on one of the nights of our stay, which may have contributed to the higher price.
