  Nice,probably would stay again if was in a nicer room

  Liked: Property and the walk around grounds were lovely Grace,our waitress for breakfast was very welcoming and friendly to our dogs

  Disliked: Our room was grubby and old fashioned for the money I paid ….expected more no fridge,dated decor and was next to a function room that was quite noisy at night

  Beautiful stay

  Liked: Beautiful hotel, we were kindly let to check in a bit earlier which we appreciated. Very polite staff, delicious breakfast, stunning view.

  Disliked: Sadly we got a different room from the options we got while booking and that’s was a bit disappointing, as the trip it was a special occasion for us.

  Disappointed

  Liked: I loved that the hotel was on the lake The bed in the room was really comfortable

  Disliked: I am writing to express my disappointment with our recent stay at your hotel, which I had booked to celebrate my mum’s birthday. I chose your hotel with the intention of making the occasion special and giving my mum a lovely, relaxing experience. Unfortunately, the stay fell well below my expectations, and I left feeling that what should have been a memorable birthday treat was overshadowed by a series of disappointing experiences. After a long day, we decided to head down to the bar for a relaxing drink. However, the atmosphere was extremely unpleasant, with guests shouting, swearing and behaving aggressively. We made the decision to sit outside the bar, around the corner by the fire, in the hope of enjoying some peace and quiet. Unfortunately, one gentleman then staggered out of the bar and nearly fell on my mum. By this point, the situation inside had escalated to the extent that the bar door was closed. We felt uncomfortable and decided to return to our room with our drinks rather than risk any further unpleasantness. The following morning, we had booked the 9.30am breakfast sitting. I was disappointed to discover that there were no pastries left on the breakfast buffet. My mum had intended to have a continental breakfast, so the lack of choice was particularly disappointing. Considering the price charged for breakfast, I would have expected the buffet to be adequately stocked for guests who had booked their sitting. To add to our disappointment, when we returned to our room to shower before checking out, we discovered that there was no hot water due to a boiler breakdown. I appreciate that unexpected technical issues can occur, and I understand that these may not always be within the hotel’s control. However, the reality was that we were unable to shower before leaving, which was an extremely disappointing end to an already underwhelming stay. I did raise my concerns with the manager before leaving and appreciate that complimentary breakfast was offered.

  A lovely hotel, peaceful and charming

  Liked: The location is superb and the staff are excellent. The room was very clean.breakfast was very good. The lounges are lovely and there were fires lit in every room. Amazing views and gardens.

  Disliked: Our bathroom was tiny. The dinner was good but expensive.

  Perfect place for cosy and peaceful autumn in Lake District

  Liked: A peaceful and comfortable stay at lake side. the lobby with a cozy, toasty fireplace and a library with lake views were a perfect setup for a relaxing time surrounded by nature! There are no grocery stores or local restaurants around, however I was able to order food at the hotel bar was very convenient.
