Exceptional
A luxury retreat in the calm heart of medieval York
Liked: Fabulous location, staff, food, bedding, toiletries, the lot!
Disliked: There wasn’t anything
Great location but wouldn’t choose to stay again
Liked: Location was perfect for all York attractions/shops/restaurants
Disliked: Very small room and bathroom- lack of surface space not great value for money Also breakfast selection was limited
Beautiful, historic property with amazing staff!
Liked: Everything! The location was perfect - easy access to York Minster and city center. The rooms are unique and very comfortable. Every single staff member was very friendly and helpful. Special shout out to John for helping with all of our questions and bags. Dan, our server in the bar, was great too. Amazing history as well!
Disliked: There was nothing I didn’t like. Everything was perfect for our stay.
Fabulous and highly recommend for couples who want a class hotel
Liked: The location is incredible not just proximity to the city but the building itself. It is a wonderful old property. Staff were friendly but also genuine. Their high levels of customer service were completely natural. Bedroom was clean and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in
Disliked: There is only a limited selection for breakfast but it is a small hotel so they presumably wish to avoid wastage. I would have liked there to have been more self serve options.

A lovely hotel but they should invest in some proper floor mounted fans
Disliked: There were no effective fans in the room, there was a heatwave on and the two mini fans provided made no impact at all. Had we not anticipated this and brought our own large fan with us, it would have been an unbearable stay in what in every other way is a lovely hotel.
