Very good
Liked: Location and room were excellent
Disliked: Quite expensive, small room accessed through busy pub
Brilliant
Liked: Cosy good location
Fun, comfy ‘themed’ rooms above a good pub
Friendly staff and central
Liked: Central
Disliked: Last night here someone booked into the room about. From 00.30 till 02.30 am they stomped about the place and were loud. 🤬
Liked: The location of the property was great and very convenient. The room was okay, and the bed was comfortable. The outdoor beer gardens were a lovely feature, especially with the heated lamps and blankets provided. This was a really nice touch and made sitting outside cosy and enjoyable, even in the cooler weather.
Disliked: Unfortunately, there were several aspects of our stay that were disappointing and could be improved. On our first night, there was a considerable amount of noise from what sounded like furniture being moved and banging around, possibly due to cleaning taking place downstairs. Surely this type of work could be carried out during the day rather than late at night when guests are trying to sleep above. Another issue was the front entrance door, which constantly slammed shut, creating even more unnecessary noise. Something as simple as fitting a soft-close door mechanism would make a significant difference and prevent the constant banging, particularly when guests are trying to relax or sleep. Breakfast was particularly disappointing. I ordered the full English, but the bacon was extremely overcooked, resembling leather and looking as though it had been sitting out for hours. I was served just three small, burnt mushrooms, and the hash brown was also burnt. My husband ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, but unfortunately the muffins were stale. To make matters worse, we both experienced upset stomachs later that evening. The member of staff hosting breakfast was also rather miserable and unwelcoming, which didn’t help the experience. We decided not to have breakfast for the remainder of our stay, and nobody followed up to ask about breakfast times or offer us a menu again. Another concern was the food hygiene practices we witnessed. One evening, while heading to the beer garden for a drink, we noticed a member of staff sitting in the kitchen vaping, as the door was open. We also saw the chef/cook putting rubbish into a bin before returning to food preparation without washing their hands. This was particularly concerning and certainly not what you would expect from an establishment serving food. There was also no fridge in the room, which would have been a welcome addition, particularly for keeping drinking water cold.
Liked: Best breakfast I've ever had! The room was lovely as well, great location.
Disliked: Nothing
