Guest reviews
Very good
Highly recommended
Liked: We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation was very comfortable, the location was perfect and centrally situated, and the ambience was truly delightful. The host was exceptional, friendly, and always willing to help. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would gladly stay again whenever we visit Ostend in the future. Highly recommended!
Disliked: All Good
Bad experience
Liked: The bread rolls were fresh in the morning...Nothing else we can think of...:-(
Disliked: We booked Belle du Jour as it looked quirky but appealing on the website and very close to attractions in Ostend. Although we were aware that there was no lift, we did not realise that, being put on the top floor, we would be climbing up 5-6 flights of narrow stairs to get to our 'room'. We were under the impression that that was an apartment as in apart-hotel, but we were disappointed to note it was only a room. There was a kettle and a coffee machine, however, the coffee machine still had water in it from a previous occupant. The cups provided were tiny and not fit for purpose. The bin in the bathroom had not been emptied and there was only one toilet roll and only 4 or 5 coat hangers. To be fair, Els did provide more of these when requested. When we arrived, there was loud music from the street which Els explained away as a shop with a DJ but we did not expect this to go on after opening hours. We were not told that the very loud music from the bar directly below the accommodation would continue well into the early hours, making it impossible to sleep. She had provided ear plugs, so maybe this should have been a clue!! As it was my wife's birthday treat, it was awful seeing her almost burst into tears with such a disappointing place to stay... So much so we simply had to look for somewhere else to stay at a further cost of over 230 Euros! When we wrote directly to Els, she was very dismissive and almost rude in her response. Strongly advise that anyone else who is considering staying here books with caution if you struggle with stairs, especially with luggage... If you are that way inclined, there is an Erotic Cinema/sex-shop across the street! It isn't 'Beach front' either
Liked: Room was spacious with large bathroom, perfect location, lively but if you wanted peace and quiet windows practically soundproof.. hostess & her son were so nice and welcoming, would definitely stay here again 🥰
Disliked: Couldn't fault😊
Liked: The beach was very easy to get to, and there are great restaurants and attractions nearby. It’s only a 15-minute walk from the train station. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Thank you very much for all your recommendations! 😊
Disliked: I recommend bringing earplugs, because people often hang out and drink at the bars downstairs, and it can get quite noisy sometimes.
Liked: We travelled from South-Africa to see family in Ostend and found this quaint little place on the internet, we love art deco, and the online menu looked very appealing, so we booked 1 night at Belle de nuit and also a dinner for 3. Although situated in the centre, only a brief walk from the promenade and the casino, please know that you are om the verge of the party side of town, so your room windows closed will hardly keep out the noise of the party street loaded with pubs and screaming drunk youngsters nearby, and the public toilets at only a few steps from the restaurant are not really appealing (I am being polite). Because we arrived in a heatwave (32 degr Celsius and more) the fan was just not enough to keep us cool. Having to climb 3 flights of narrow stairs (no elevator) did not really help with luggage either, we wish we would have known that beforehand. The dinner was also a surprise, although we had made the reservation many weeks before, we received the menu, which we had already read online and we were excited about, but while ordering we were told most of it was not available (on a Saturday night during high season?) We just wanted to enjoy ourselves and hence took the few options available without complaining, but especially my stepdad (age 76) was not pleased and knowing the city well (he is a local), he was very disappointed. The service was ok, but for only a few rooms and a restaurant of limited choice, a truly friendly attititude would have been much appreciated. We owned a hotel ourselves and worked in hospitality and would have loved to have written a flawless review, but that would be a lie. We will not return nor recommend either one, BnB nor restaurant unfortunately.

Fine room, great location
Liked: The location is great and the room was fine. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great.
Disliked: The place is nicely located and the room was fine but the staircase and the entryway were a bit dusty/dirty and there were some flies around. There was no separation between the bedroom and the toilet/bathroom. we went during a national holiday, so we knew the price was very high for that specific night, but I still found the price too high for what it was. There was no fresh water in the room. I also left a message to the host in advance asking if we could leave our things before the room was ready and received no answer until check-in time.
