  Disappointing experience due to security concerns and poor communication

  Liked: Functional apartment with a small kitchen and tv. As a bonus there is a free parking space in a locked car park.

  Disliked: The neighbourhood felt quite unsafe, especially during the evening. Reception is only available during limited hours and is closed on weekends and after 6:00 PM. This can be very inconvenient for guests arriving outside these times. A €50 deposit is required. However, because reception is usually closed when many guests arrive, the property asks guests to send their credit card details by email in order to process the deposit. I found this highly concerning from a security perspective. Even Booking.com advises users never to share credit card details via email or chat because of the risks of fraud, phishing, and data breaches. Also my bank doesn't allow such practise and would not cover me if I become victim of fraud due to this. After I objected to this practice, the staff simply replied that they would waive the deposit requirement. This raises questions about the consistency and necessity of the policy. Furthermore, the property's rules state that the deposit is requested 7 days before arrival, but in my case it was only requested one day before check-in. At that point, cancellation was no longer possible without losing the full cost of the booking, leaving me with little choice. The check-in instructions were provided only in German. As a Belgian Flemish speaker, I was able to understand most of them, but international guests would likely benefit from receiving the instructions in English or French as well. The Wi-Fi network does not allow VPN connections. As a result, I did not feel comfortable using it for anything involving personal or sensitive information. Overall, the accommodation itself may suit some travellers, but the deposit procedure, limited reception availability, and communication issues significantly affected my experience.

  Liked: Clean comfortable bed. Continental breakfast was good.

  Friendly staff but the property needs an upgrade, especially adding air conditioning to the rooms

  Liked: The front desk staff is wonderful and very helpful.

  Disliked: No air conditioning, so I couldn't sleep. The toilet did not look clean. There is no shower head, just a shower spray, so it was very difficult to take a proper shower. You have to take out your own garbage, or they will charge you a cleaning fee.

  Basic stay near Avignon city center

  Liked: Convenient location with parking near Avignon city center

  Disliked: Cleanliness should be improved, you could hear every movement in the corridor and doors slamming frequently during the night. Definitely bring earplugs.
