Is it common to throw away your belongings when the room is being cleaned?

Liked: Cleanliness was very good and amenities for the price!

Disliked: Story time: I was convinced I booked 3 nights in the hostel (I didn't), and I left one morning without checking out. Now, I was at a local conference/training program and didnt check my phone. When I did check my messages on booking.com I saw that they threatened to involve the police if I didn't return my key. I of course apologised and booked another night. After finishing my day I return to the hostel to find my stuff in a bin! I still don't know how I feel about this. I think this could've been handled better by the hostel, I'm sure there is at least a storage room where my stuff could've been stored by the time I returned. I had my passport in there which could've been stolen and I'm still shocked by the way this was handled, feels very disrespectful.

  Liked: Location

Disliked: There was no hot water on the night of my stay. Also the mattress was covered in plastic so it was not comfortable to sleep on.

  Will not return

Liked: Easy to get the kays

Disliked: On the advertisement it is very easy to understand that private bathroo and shower are in the reoom, but those are in completely in different room where you need to go thru hallway - so need to exit my bedroom first adn then open the other door from the hallway to get in to the wc and shower. Also soap dispenser on shower was empty or did not work at all.
