  Cute little hotel in an amazing location

  Liked: The hotel is very nice, staff was very welcoming and helpful. The location was amazing

  Disliked: I would suggest a kettle and some coffee and tea bags inside the rooms. Would be nice to be able to have a coffee when waking up, before needing to dress and go to the breakfast area The cleaning staff was helpful and cleaned my room even when I didnt ask for it but they started cleaning very early morning (I think it was around 8am) and I had to wake up because of the hoover noise and bangs

  Charming hotel in a lovely area, loved it

  Liked: The hotel was in an excellent safe location close to the old town, shopping mall, plenty of restaurants and public transport. The English Park is only a 5 minute walk and is where the surfers entertain the onlookers by surfing the river. The old town is a 15 minute walk and has stunning historical buildings with stories to tell. Upmarket designer label shops mix comfortably with shopping malls and restaurants, just a pleasure to visit. The hotel old building is a treat and our room was just what we needed for our short stay, The breakfast room and drinks lounge very cosy and inviting, breakfast was very good. The staff were all so welcoming, helpful and pleasant. We would recommend a stay in the Splendid Hotel.

  Excellent character and location

  Liked: Very nice feel and atmosphere, which made us feel good about being there. It had a lovely bourgeois feel, which is a compliment, with novellas (in German) on the pillows and in the sitting room every book ever written by Thomas Mann, plus a gramophone of the same model that he had. Genuinely a boutique hotel with real character. Room size was only average. The location is exceptional: the Lehel district is upmarket and close to central Munich, while having a villagey feel because that is what it once was, redeveloped in the 1890 as apartments. Just around the corner is a beautiful little piazza area with restaurants, a couple of cafes, and an extraordinary 1900 neo-Romanesque church which is much more interesting than it sounds. The tram and U Bahn were right below (no noise: excellent soundproofing). It can be difficult to find good accommodation in Munich, and this was quite a find. Thoroughly recommended. Exceptionally nice and helpful staff.

  Disliked: The single duvets, German style, were too thin (not proper padded duvets) and kept coming off and disrupting sleep. Breakfast was average but there are good cafes nearby.

  Liked: While good, we stayed in other locations in Germany where the breakfasts were better and cheaper.

  Disliked: The toilet was wedged between the shower and the wall, which made it difficult to access.

  Clean hotel with friendly staff

  Liked: The room was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good but a little bit pricey. Lots of bars and cafes nearby.

  Disliked: 4-5 star prices for more of a 3 star hotel. No safe in room - plenty of room for one. We paid for a deluxe room and the bathroom was tiny - not impressed with that. Seems that our room was the same size as a standard room. Shame that the bar shut at 10 as that was when reception closed. Some of the furniture looked like it needed upgrading - maybe that was the look they were going for?

  Enjoyed the location, however, the boutique hotel was very average

  Liked: We liked the location and proximity to the English gardens, walking trails and the Isar canals. We also were close enough to walk to the Marienplatz and old town Munich. Plenty of restaurants with in walking distance from the hotel.

  Disliked: Loud construction beginning at 6:30 am directly across the street. Incessant trolley noise on the street in front of hotel. Very limited selection for breakfast and cost $16 euros per person each day. Paid Parking available at a garage near by.
