  Liked: Cocoon Hostel has a great central location and some good facilities, including a well-equipped kitchen and generally good bathroom amenities. However, there are several important areas that need improvement. One of the biggest drawbacks was the lack of curtains on the bunk beds. In a shared dormitory, privacy is essential, and curtains would make a significant difference to guests' comfort and sense of personal space. Another major issue was the main bathroom door, which opens onto the corridor. It was stuck and could not be closed at all. It almost seemed as though it had been deliberately left that way, although I cannot say for certain. Either way, this was very uncomfortable, as anyone using the toilet or taking a shower had no proper privacy. The bathroom floor was also covered in water, which was unpleasant and potentially slippery. I also had concerns about my upper bunk and asked the receptionist if it would be possible to change beds, as I did not feel comfortable or safe sleeping on the top bunk. I was told that the hostel was fully booked. However, after checking Booking.com myself, I noticed that other room options appeared to be available at an additional cost. These alternatives were not suggested to me, and I felt there was little effort to find a solution or show understanding of my request. I would have appreciated more flexibility, consideration, and empathy from the staff, even if changing rooms meant paying extra. Unfortunately, the other guests in my dormitory were also quite noisy, which made it harder to rest. While a hostel cannot control every guest's behaviour, privacy and a comfortable sleeping environment are particularly important in shared accommodation. As I only stayed for one night, I decided not to make too much of these issues. The hostel's central location and kitchen facilities are definite positives, and the overall experience was reasonable.

  If you are looking for a budget place to stay while in Chania, this will more than work

  Liked: The hostel is located in a very convenient place in Chania, and the staff helps you with whatever you need. The washrooms were mostly clean, and I met some really nice people during my stay. The kitchens were nice too.

  Disliked: The rooms were very small, and the temperature at which the AC is set makes the room very hot, especially for those in the lower beds. There were some instances where the washrooms and bathrooms weren't clean, and the trash was overflowing. The lockers under the bed are wide but lack enough height, making it challenging to store larger suitcases.

  Such a wonderful place. I couldn’t recommend it more!

  Liked: I absolutely loved my stay here! I was only in Chania for a short stopover, and choosing this hostel was honestly the best decision I could have made. The location is fantastic — close enough to explore the beautiful Old Town on foot, but also perfect if you need to get some work done. The common areas are lovely, and having a dedicated coworking space is such a great bonus! The rooms are super clean, comfortable and thoughtfully designed. I also really appreciated being able to store my luggage both before check-in and after check-out. It feels like they’ve thought of absolutely everything, including things you didn’t even know you needed!
