Excellent staff, a great location, beautiful sunsets and another enjoyable stay at Athena Hotel

Liked: Excellent staff interaction and empathy, with a quick response when I needed to change my room to a similar one on a lower floor. The hotel is very close to the beach, where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets as the sun slowly disappears into the sea. I am a returning guest and was delighted to stay here again this year. I would happily choose this hotel for my next visit as well.

Disliked: Nothing major, really. Overall, everything was very good. If I had to suggest one improvement, it would be to vary the hot breakfast options a bit more frequently, especially for guests staying for longer periods.

Disappointing stay, construction noise and unacceptable towel policy

Liked: The hotel's location was excellent and very convenient, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Some of the staff were nice, some were ok, there is a nice supermarket outside where you can buy stuff for cheap

Disliked: Our stay at Athena Hotel was disappointing despite its excellent location. Before arriving, we specifically requested a quiet room because my partner is sensitive to noise. Yet, on our very first morning, we woke up to loud construction work from the new Mitsis Hotel being built right next door. The noise made our balcony unpleasant to use, and we had received no warning beforehand. Staff offered another room but couldn't guarantee it would be quieter. The towel policy was even more frustrating. We were told beach towels couldn't be exchanged, even when sandy and dirty. We actually ended up sharing one towel at the beach to keep the other clean! Housekeeping was equally disappointing. Our shower leaked water onto the bathroom floor, leaving the bath mat soaking wet, yet it wasn't replaced. Even worse, a visibly dirty bath towel we'd left on the floor was simply put back instead of exchanged. Reception confirmed this was hotel policy. We support reducing unnecessary laundry, but refusing to replace genuinely dirty towels is unacceptable. Breakfast was basic and underwhelming compared to other hotels we've visited in Greece Neither the construction nor the restrictive towel policy was disclosed before booking. Had we known, we would have chosen another hotel. The location was excellent, but unfortunately, the noise, poor housekeeping, and unreasonable policies overshadowed what should have been a relaxing vacation.
