Fabulous
Riad in Fes
Liked: * Great location, perfect for exploring the medina. * The breakfasts were absolutely delicious! * The price was reasonable, so considering the low cost, it was an okay stay overall. * There is space on the rooftop to hang your laundry, which is very convenient. * The staff frequently checked whether we were comfortable and if we needed any help, which was a nice touch.
Disliked: * The room was dirty, and we felt we had to wear shoes indoors rather than walk barefoot. * Hot water was very unreliable. It took a very long time for the water to warm up, and one evening we both had to shower in cold water. * Although the breakfasts were delicious, we had to wait a little bit of time for them to be served. * There was an air conditioner in the room, but no remote control was provided. * The terrace wasn’t particularly inviting. * The building was very old and poorly maintained. The doors creaked terribly, and there were very visible signs of dampness on the walls. * The sound insulation was poor, and we could hear almost everything happening outside our room. * The property is listed as a 4-star hotel on Google Maps, but I wouldn’t recommend relying on that rating when deciding whether to book.
Good price with consequences
Liked: The room was good and comfortable.
Disliked: Forget hot water - it works just once, so if other guest had shower in the past hour, nobody else won’t. The smell into the house is havy.
Liked: The staff were incredibly kind, polite, and welcoming! A special thank you to the guy who prepared our breakfasts — he was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always happy to accommodate our preferences. He really made our mornings even more enjoyable! Our room had no window, but the air conditioning worked perfectly, so we were comfortable throughout our stay.
Liked: Everything was great. A lot better than what we expected. The staff helped us so much and gave us a lot of good advice for moving around the medina. We felt at home!
Overbooking case or simply dishonest communication and pressure
Liked: We were offered an alternative accomodation outside booking.com platform. It was comparable or slightly better as service.
Disliked: We were asked to click for cancellation with no fee but then host claimed we should wait until next day for them to accept it. Probably overbooking case. Only after putting pressure they accepted it right away. For the new accomodation we were put under pressure to accept it, host becoming "offended" and "mad" (?!) for us not trusting him. That was understandable given the tricks made to avoid booking fees by them + no communication before our arrival on the unavailable room.
Liked: The host was very nice, the room was clean and spacious, we really enjoyed our stay here.
Disliked: The shower was a bit cramped.
